Now the excitement of the clover and supermarket openings have reached a peak, can anybody inform us of any definate plans for other bars. As nice as the clover looks, one bar to service thousands of homes on a somewhat remote resort does not cut it for me, I do not relish waiting 5 deep at the bar trying to get served and I feel that we need 4or5 different bar types in the foro as well as 4or5 different style eateries. Are polaris going to manage all the units in the foro or will outside business be allowed to set up and compete? I hate to put a negative slant on it ,but we need a thriving vibrant town centre with variety and choice to make the resort truely top class.
Anyhow, We are over on 4th august and cannot wait to sample the growing atmosphere and friendliness. You will be able to spot me in the Clover, I will be the one with the Man Utd shirt on sat with the loud missus.
Cheers Dakey

There is the Golf Clubhouse which should open at some point this year, also the new restaurant (no idea when this will open). However I agree we need more choice of places to Drink. I think the foro will look pretty barron in the evenings, all that space and just 1 bar open?
Dont Polaris normally put a Pino Bar in all there resorts? As crazy as this sounds, I hate all sports and Clover is pitched as a Sports Bar, so if I want to drink in there I will end up sitting through endless football games, and not being able to hold a conversation due to the noise!
In 2005 when I paid my deposit I was told that by 2009 there would be shops, restaurants, cinemas, bars, a golf course, Clubhouse, a Hotel and a Spa. Instead we are now celibrating the opening of Bar number 2 and just my luck, its a sports bar! A sports bar that doesnt allow football shirts (so its not all bad!)

I was also told when I paid my deposit that there would be lots of restaurants & bars to suit all budgets, ones aimed for families etc. This was one of the main things that swayed me into buying on Condado, no need to drive outside of the resort unless we wanted to. As a family, we thought it would be nice that we had a choice of restaurants/bars on the doorstep. Im not too disappointed at the moment as it's still early days, but it would be nice to get everything that we were promised sooner rather than later!

All,
Let's get this in perspective ;-
So over the past two years we have gone from a muddy field and a vision in a designers head to where we are now.
CdA was always planned as a 10 year project, ok maybe 15 years now given the current climate.
Ok so at the moment there are only two bars, but give it time, within the next few months we will have a supermarget, a golf pro shop, a restaurant, council offices, community offices and possibly a bank. I for one am still a happy chappy.

I am not being negative, just realistic. I really think its great that people are happy with our current offering of amenities. I feel any forum should reflect the positive and negative. People tend to get critisised on this forum for expressing views which are not positive, but not everything in life is rosey.
I was one of the first people to reserve on Condado, in 2005. There was never any mention of a 10 year plan at this stage. I wonder if people are genuinely happy with everything or simply making the best of what they have.
I look at what I was promissed and what I have received and I admit to being disapointed. 4 years since I reserved, over 1 year since I completed and I still dont have a restaurant within a 5 mile radius! Had I know this in 2005 I dont think I would have put down my 40%.
I realise things could be a lot worse and Polaris are still solvent and still building, which I am thankfull for.

Look those who are first time buyers might be slightly disappointed but thinking they would open an all singing and dancing resort in 1 go live in alice & Wonderland.. Sorry it doesn't happen in spain, maybe in Dubai but hey you'll pay top dollar..
Nothing to do with current climate, but when the first owners on the mar menor got their keys there was nothing.. after a couple of months just a wooden shed that served as a golf bar & Shop. It took 2 years before the hotel was opened, slowly but surely they added bars & restaurants.. Now in the summer it is busy.. in the winter it is DEAD... sustainability is the key word.. where they have a hotel they will get more golf clientel so some bars & restaurants will get a steady stream...
So now add the current climate, their experience with the other resort and empty bars... reality kicks in so does caution... yeah they cut back in number of houses partly caused by development retsrictions by alhama council and in addition the collapsed market... so with just 3 gardens their is no sustainability ofr cinemas, retail shops etc.
In the winter Camposol is a gost town and that has at least 40% occupency. Bars are empty restaurants struggling..
Just being realistic here. I am hoping for a a filled Al Kasar, but realisticly with current number of people/houses I would say 1 more bar and 1 more restaurant.. and then the clubhouse/bar.
A lot will still eat outside of the resort. I prefer the puerto for ambiance, price and choice so would more people. We have a house on Camposol but rarly eat there....

Marius, I fully agree with everything you are saying, and my other forign home is like "Alice in Wonderland". Its in Las Vegas.
Polaris have learned from experience and The recession has impacted on the building, however in 2005 neither myself or Polaris could have predicted that Condado would have no restaurants by July 2009. All I am saying is that had I know this back then I would not have bought this apartment.
Guess I only have myself to blame and everybody makes mistakes once in a while. However I will refrain from moaning on this forum now and quietly kick myself!

Hello,
I think most of us will accept that we were told of this new resort full of people, loads of shops and bars, etc but for reasons mentioned already, it hasn't happened.
What we need to remember is the actual Jardines are lovely and you golfers seemed to be pleased with what the course will eventually become. I have been on holiday on many other complexes and once outside the complex there isn't that much.
Let's remember that within 20 minutes drive we have wonderful beaches, mountains and stunning scenery. Not many areas give you that. Just remember we could possibly have done better BUT...........we could have done a LOT, LOT worse.
Please stay positive, life's too short.
Phil

Darren I agree in hindsight we probably wuldn't have bought a 2nd property either. The investment is now realy long term. But we got it now and must make the most of it. the world has changed so has Condado
Don't get me wrong I have no regrets and I have a positive outlook. I love the the whole Mazarron area. We have been here for 5 years, coming over nearly very month, still discovering little gems in the area, made good friends and alsways look forward to the next trip.
3 weeks ago didn't get a change to see Al Kasar properly but will give it a good crack next weekend.
Mar Menor, La Torre, El Valle all high quality and I am sure this will turn out great too.
I have more hope in PW, than Mazarron Council or Masa gettin Camposol in a decent state, but that is another story
