Just a word of warning.

When we go on holiday abroad we tend to leave our brains back home.

Whilst we wer out just we heard of several incidents on site and experienced one ourselves.

Squaters were evicted off one of the Jardines (make sure your keyholders are vigilant) (make sure your property is secure) when you leave your property the windows can look locked when they are not.

Be careful leaving your doors open whilst visiting the pool. if you were back in the UK you would not be so careless.

Three cars were stolen of site one of which was burnt out. (security needs to be on protrolling and be visable day and night).

Don't get me wrong this is not a moan this is just a word of warning to keep your wits about you and act like you would at home.

We did however have a great vacation and met some great people having fun on this stunning resort, which just keeps getting better and better every time we visit.

only needs the golf the club house and the hotel to be the best resort in the region.

God when did all that happen?? We did see security talking to some residents and looked like they were taking notes/statements.  The had also started stopping people at the gate on the way in and asking for your details and identification. Have to say that its a real shame to think that happened, bit of a difference from broken lights.  Sure hope that security step it up.

The police "Alhama Special Unit" arrested yesterday a woman renting a top floor apartment in Condado de Alhama, brain of a gang which was stealing in the area. The police found in the apartment numerous things stealing in Alicante and Elche, as well as a stolen car parked by the apartment. Two members of the same family scaped and police are now looking for them.
 

This brings our security measures into question.  Squaters and now known thiefs, WHAT HAVE I BOUGHT INTO.

The email Jackie posted was from www.polaris-world-forum.org.uk/,   the I raised this matter with RPM a couple of days again and recieved the following Reply ;-

Dear President,

Regarding the thefts that have taken place at the resort this month,
the Community of Owners Condado de Alhama would like to inform you
of the following.

The people who made the theft were living in the resort in a rental
scheme. To exit with the stolen car, they used the car registration
which they had come here with. Once the security guards found the
vehicle without registration they contacted the police.

Last Wednesday, those responsible for the theft were arrested in
Elche. The next day the police came to the resort and activated a
device to prevent them from entering the resort.

Since that day there have being two civilian cars circulating in
Condado de Alhama. On Friday the owner ,who had signed the lease,came
to remove their belongings from the apartment, the same day the lease
was cancelled.

In both security checkpoints, they have the pictures of these people
to prevent them from future access into the complex.

I can't believe this.  Do we know how many people they managed to deceive?  We never questionned the level of security before as when we were sold "the lifestyle" the rep showing us around left her keys inside the car with the engine running whilst we visited the supermarket on La Torre.  I think that my husband and I will book a cheap weekend flight out, just to check on ours.  We may even consider a burgular alarm, but we will need to check the rules first.

Polaris are wanting to allow anyone access to the resort supermarket, I think we should seriously oppose this now for security reasons.  El Oasis is a different matter.

Al Kazar was designed to be for residents use only, hence the reason it was within the security perimeter.I think Polaris have realised that it needs to be open to the public in order to be profitible.

If we want other bars and restaurants to be sucessfull we must allow public access, but I agree this does cause a security concern, I think the public maybe should be forced to park outside the security fence and walk? That way if you see someone walking through security with a TV under their arm, you know they have been upto no good!

I agree Darren - couldn't be simpler non residents park outside. (not exactly short on the "parking spaces" front are we)

Personally I don't think it'll be an issue as people will only come if the service or price is that much better than elsewhere. 

But depending on what the rest of the shops turn out to be that may change.

Our Spanish neighbour recently had her handbag stolen from her apartment while she was in the shower - very scarey.  I think you just have to be as careful with security as you are at home.
