hi all,

we have just got back from another great time on condado, weather was great, la caverna restaurant special service, bolneuvo beach great waves, elliots big cod and chips, gateway to india excellent as always,  al kasar, food rubbish, drinks ok, golf course is coming on great in some areas slowly in others, i have almost 100 tee to green pictures to post, especially for jann, i think my computer has the same just returned as me feeling,so its a bit slow.

moans and groans, sorry but everybody else is doing it? as i have just briefly read some threads.

security  = abysmal, anyone could get past this bunch of clowns.

kids using lights as goalposts with size 5 caseys, and "parents" not doing a thing about it, no wonder RPM and US  are pissed off paying for these all the time, also the trees, come on people think about it? we used to use jumpers in a field.

arsholes jumping over the pool fence when the gate is only 10M away, lazy gets.

arsholes wives letting there dogs in the pool area. bints

arsholes kids riding their bikes in the pool area, mindless

kids shaking a tree that hard it nearly came out of its roots, i put a stop to that one,

speeding? the ring road doubles up as brandhatch after 8 pm, oh and the jumps are great, sorry the SPEED  bumps.

i personally think the resort is coming along great, however the security need to step up their ideas, or a lot of people are going to fall out with each other over simple things, me being one of them,

all i would ask is, come on  people we are all there to enjoy ourselves but be a bit considerate of others, keep an eye on your kids put your rubbish in the bins provided and we will all live happily  ever after,

if not,  p@ss off back to your slum estate, in either spain or england

Hey

I think you would make a great security guard....!

Did the electric meters get installed in Jardine 7 whilst you were there or do you know when they are likely to be done.

Cheers.

Oh Ant and Andi - Your posts make me laugh so much.  You are right - and if I see any little toads misbehaving (children or adults) I will have no hesitation in making my position known.  I am, though, a bit peeved that the ring road is being used as a racetrack.  That's obviously 'outsiders' and if that's happening it's a joke.  It's one thing kids on the resort being a bit daft (and their parents allowing them) but a whole other ball game if adults from the surrounding areas are coming in.  Surely a few nights of clamping down by security would get the message over on this one?  I know we seem like a bunch of old moaners but doe sanyone think this would be tolerated at La Manga Club?  No - that is why that resort has held its value over the past 35 years or so.  Snooty? - Maybe but I don't want to live in some chavvy hole I'm afraid......................

Hiya folks,

me and mrs welshwizard got home from CdA at the weekend and had a great time. I have to admit some of the things mentioned did get on my nerves as well. I agree with OP and think high visability security foot patrols could calm things down but what authority do our security have and what can they actually 'do' to offenders?

The other thing we both noticed was all the dead grass on the verges of the outer ring road. When driving from CdA to Camposol for a fair distance along the dual carriageway huge chunks of the usually gorgeous, green, grass has gone. It looks horrible. What the hell are the gardeners doing........or not doing? All the sprinklers were still running and pouring water onto dodgy looking patches of soil!

come out of condado and take the first right onto the rm23 heading for alhama, drive to the end of the rm23, when you come to the big roundabout (rm2) drive straight undrneath the rm2 and take the second exit sign posted el palmar (i think) drive along this road for approx 2 mile you will come to a small village called los ventorrillos, la caverna is just in the village on the right hand side.

enjoy mate, i am sure you will

I really hope these issues get sorted out.

Nice to see there are so many other politically incorrect folks such as myself using the forum. My son is 16 and i would be firstly amazed and secondly horrified if he ever did any of things being described here either at home or at our lovely second home. Why is that? Because he has been brought up properly, I have nothing but disgust for parents who cant control their offspring or even fail to see when their behaviour may upset others. For the most part i have to say we have met some very nice people when we have been out but we have seen some evidence of the chavvy set- why do people put their rubbish in the waste bins in the jardins when the recycling bins are across the road -if you're reading this in Jardin 2 you know who you are.

I am out in 3 weeks and rest assured if i see anything taking place as described here i will be happy to first put a stop to it, and secondly to put the parents straight on a few issues. I doubt that any of the miscreants read forums such as this but if you do, I'm 6'5 and will be keeping my eye out for you.

Rant over......now where's my union jack shorts and my england beach towel........

Hi PhilDeb

We are almost neighbours and we too are out in 3 weeks and yes we will also be kicking arse if anyone is messing and taking the piss.......   We are very lucky though Jardin 2 is a great Jardin and as one of the smaller Jardins with quite a few permanent residents it does appear to be one of the more well behaved Jardins....  well that is until we get there!!!!!!

cheers for that, I've heard it's excellent so will pay it a visit when we are out next Sunday for the week.  With a bit of luck we might even get to try the cuisine in the Foro if the restaurant is open by then!!!

Thanks again,

Anthony

Just a quick one, La Caverna is closed from 4 to 8 and Mondays & Sundays, it may be open on Sundays but I think that was only for the month of August. We made the mistake of going out twice on a Monday  It was also recomended to us but we never got the chance to try it...next time

As far as I can remember La Caverna was only open on Sunday evenings for July and August.  Never actually made it there for a meal but going out next weekend and might try it.  We are bringing sister and her husband with us.  Sister is allergic to garlic and onions!  Does anyone know if they serve 'plain' food - chicken/steak as well as their Spanish fare?  Thanks

La Caverna is very good.

As far as I can remember it is closed Sunday evenings and mondays but open again tuesday.

We have tried both the menu del dia and al a carte menu (on the night) but prefer the menu del dia.

Definately worth recommending

Can also give good reprots on this restaurant.

However we too have a problem with an in- law who refuses to eat garlic or onions. This has proven to be a big problem in Spain- so we often BBQ in the evenings and do a brit style pub lunch. Also struggle with finding veggie food- anyone help there?

You struggle with veggie food - so have we.  We seem to struggle everywhere we go and would very much appreciate any comments on where to go (or not!)  We found the english bar/restaurant in Campasol which done a reasonable menu but would love to experience Spanish veggie food (is there such a thing?) I eat fish but the other half doesnt!

Havent really seen a veggie selection in local Spainsh menu's when we have been in the Mazarron area. Its a bit better along the coast in the touristy spots Orihuela, Cabo Roig and Alicante. Our veggie will occasionally eat a bit of fish too or a veg curry.

Hola every one.

To get back to the origin of this thread. Hasnt this been discussed before. I am sure it was a similar thread where the taking of photos of the culprits was concidered a good idea. I would certainly go for it. then take the evedence to the security & PW. If nothing gets done , maybe we could shame if we cant name these culprits by posting the photos on all of the Condafo sites. I would be only to happy to do that too or is it not politically correct. (  as if I care ) NOT.

Sorry if I went off thread with my previous post. I came in at the middle of this thread and thought it was about interesting places to visit? In scanning down further I now see its more about problems people are referring to on another thread.

CdA needs to improve security at the gates and in regular patrols. They should be out on that ring round regularly in the evenings. There are speed restrictions, aside from anything else, and they should get the police over once or twice. It seems the ring road belongs to us so patroling it shouldnt be an issue.

For my money this all comes down to security whether its unruly children or racing on the outer road, using the pools after 9pm or whatever. Regular security patrols reminding people of the rules will eventually get the message home, spot checking at the main gates and so on. Make the signs bigger too at the pool area's if you dont want people using the pools late into the night, taking glasses in, jumping fences or allowing their dogs to defecate in the pool compound. Unfortunately some people dont think rules apply to them, they think they have some personal reason to ignore them- dont know why? Maybe all owners should have a mail shot reminding them of the rules (they dont all use forums) and if renting out should be required to issue their clients with a list of resort rules and have them prominently displayed in their properties. Start at the grass roots and you'll deal with those unawares straight away and reduce some of the problems, just leaving the arrogant ones to be dealt with by better security measures.. Our neighbour on CdA suggested a curfew for children- bet that wouldnt go down well!

May I also advise that taking photo's of other people's children is probably best avoided regardless of what they are doing- I'm not writing that from a pc point of view but individuals taking such action could get themselves caught up in a very difficult situation.

On the plus side we thought the Clover was a really good pub- not sure about the live music Fri, Sat and Sun not totally our cup of tea for every week. Also think Al Kasar has really good potential which has surprised me as we really like La Torre's centre and favoured something along those lines so initially we were very disappointed with the set up of Al Kasar but inside looks good and will get better as more outlets open.

What would be interesting is if someone could bring me up to date on the club house- its never going to be built by the expected Nov/Dec opening date for the golf course. Whats going to be in place temporarily and will security be stepped up to supervise unwanted use and visitors to the greens in the evenings (or any time for that matter)?

Hi Quietman

The issue of the clubhouse has been covered under one of the golf course threads.  Initially they are going to use one of the units in Al Kasar while the permanent one is being built.  The order of the tees is to be changed to accomodate the position of the "club bar" (temporarily)

Regarding security, following a meeting on Monday, there is to be a step up with cards being issued to owners/renters/visitors.

June

PS As you are new to the forum it would be nice to know your name and what garden you are on?  Helps us to relate to each other

Thanks for all that info- hoping to complete within days on 7 next to my in laws apartment- golf is what drew us all to PW.

As for a name- well - my father in law says I'm anything but the quiet man!

i've read the comments on the two threads regarding worries and issues and  think most of these things are because the resort is new and still at the teeething stage. For very many people living in apartments close to so many (potential) neighbours is a new experience. Unfortunately we'll always get renters who dont care about the apartment they are in or the neighbours but hopefully most owners will settle into the rules and regs over time.

Its a high density resort and with the Spanish advertising PW have done will have alot of Spanish moving in- especially in the Jardine style apartments as I think they are being promoted as a family friendly environment with Penthouses considered a retirement option. However my retired in laws chose Jardines over penthouses as they felt they could be isolated-  think their views would make up for any concerns like that.  But I think CdA could move from being a resort to a residential development and that means the worries expressed on here have to be dealt with sooner rather than later. That might mean it is a bit different than what people originally expected. We've alot of experience of Spain and Spanish resorts and communities and have done several long stays in various locations. Some of the more permanent residential developments are just like our UK huge housing estates but with better facilities close by. Often the rented apartments are in the minority on those and so they dont suffer really quiet times when the place becomes like a ghost town. Not sure how CdA will develop but wouldnt be surprised if it goes more than 60/40 residential- the rental market is still weak and expected to remain so for years. Once completions settle and PW continue their slower building progress that may become more evident to those wanting to rent.

If RPM or who ever it is who are the management company had any teeth they would manage the concerns and complaints that are being aired on here with more vigour. Although we are about to complete and have been bothered by things expressed on this and other forums it hasnt really put us off as we think down the line PW produce a relatvely good product and are still in business even in this current climate.
