Is anyone having problems with Urbaser?   We had a letter in our mailbox advising that we owed 196 euros.  I have been trying to ring, email and fax urbaser since 14/8/09 to check what this amount is for and arrange payment, but have not got anywhere.  The emails get rejected, faxes unanswered and apparantly no one speaks English.   I now beleive we have been cut off!  I have spent most of today trying to get this resolved but without success.

Has anyone else been able to make contact and if so how??

This is a common occurance many people in my Garden thought they had paid the 196 connection charge and in fact had not on checking bank.

They all recieved two letters in Spanish relating to the 196€ and assumed they were reciepts when they were actually warnings of impending action to remove meters.

Meters have been removed and the only way you will get your meter back is by visiting the Urbaser office in Alhama De Murcia and Paying Cash 196€ connection plus 50€ for re-connection. They will only accept cash no Cards no Bank transfers etc.

Their office is behind the Tourist Office.

Their office has a pile of meters with labels on from which apartment they were removed.

If your meter has vanished this is the only route you can go if you pay before noon it will be refitted that afternoon.

They dont speak english so take your letters and water bills so they can check records and refit the correct house.

If you arrive late you will need to aquire water to flush your toilet etc.

We too have had the same probem, in Jardine 1,  and thank goodness we have a key holder in our Jardine to help us

Thanks to Lyn & Ed for all their help

We contacted our bank and they asked me to confirm in writing via fax what I required them to do.  I assume that the bank  must have spoken to someone at Urbaser as the bank rang me back to let me know that there was a connection charge and that Urbaser would not be able to re-connect until after the weekend,  The bank has transferred funds to Urbaser which have not been returned that was 4 days ago, still waiting for water to be put back on although this has occurred over the weekend.

Lyn and Ed are keeping an eye on this for us

Hi Deb

Let me know if this is successful for you.  My Spanish friend phone Urbaser for me today and was advised the ONLY option when the meter has been removed is to go in person to the office in Alhama pay the connection fee and reconnection charge plus any outstanding charges.  Urbaser are calculating this amount for us now and will send us a new bill (only to Spain though), we can call up and get this amount.    We have got someone on CdA who will go to Alhama for us and pay this, so I am sure she would do this for you too if you needed her (esp if she goes at same time for us!).   Clearly however if your method does work that would be easier for everyone!

Would you keep me posted by PM, and of course if yours doesnt work, i could ask our lady if she would mind doing yours too?

Hi guys

Just to let you know that water is back on today in our apartment (Jardine 1) the bank came through very well for us and promptly paid the bill through bankers transfer, apart from the time it took to reconnect all went well so far.

Can anyone tell me how I can send a private message -  I submit a request and nothing seems to come back to me, am I mssing something or just having a blonde moment.  it is very annoying.

Hi Deb,

Glad to hear your water problems have been resolved. There is a minmum restriction on number of  "posts" you have to make, 5 I think, before the system lets you have access to PM's.
