Cheers for the quick reply. Not too concerned about upload as between 25 and 40 is more than sufficient for what i need  main priority is down speed. Torrent junkies will like the faster up though, wont do their ratio any harm.....wanna use that angle with the kids so they pester their parents to sign up.

4Mb of SDSL would be more than sufficient for the equivalent of 10Mb of ADSL. However 10Mb of SDSL would not be a standard installation and would be done on an individual basis.

Currently on Camposol the receiver is a small rectangular box on a pole on a terrace and wired into the phone socket. Where you can either plug in a modem or straight into a PC. PW pose problems with the rules they have. The devices are small enough to be camouflaged some way but they are also Compusurf are looking at other options trying to come up with a solution.

I simply don't have time. I'm too busy trying to earn a crust, plus I still have to go to the internet cafe when ever I get a moment. I'll have my say at the next presidents meeting but I won't be dictated to by PW as to who I buy whatever service through, especially as they themselves do not provide a good or reasonably priced solution.

I know that this is a dedicated line unfortunately 4mb is not equivalent to 10mb, there is a difference (downstream of approx 600k, given a race a 10mb would download twice as fast as a 4mb) which is what I would need as I have access to my Sky TV package via the net so the greater download the better. Was just trying to get a rough price as wondered if it is worth getting it or waiting for Telefonica as they are upgrading us in Jan to 10mb and if all goes well 20mb in April 2010

Can anyone rell me the situation re the PW internet setup on Condado at the moment?

I forked out for a PW router when we were last there in September, with a view to using it with an Areanet card. The service was only intermittent at best, and I've heard rumours since that they've cut it off completely

Is this true?

Has it improved since then?

Has it died completely?

We're back over in January and I'd like to be confident that I'll have some sort of web access when I get there

Internet is working however the area net is not, those who have the modem for areanet currently get free internet, PW are not selling areanet at the moment, they are trying to fix it, if its not fixed i dont know what happens. But i suspect they will try to sell monthly/Annual Broadband service.

They will give you a full refund for modem if you wish.

Jardin 1 has been experiencing intermittant problems, i believe it is better now but not 100%

Perhaps a user from Jardin 1 can comment?

I can not quote our meetings here on a public forum but a couple of relevant points:

Areanet en Casa Service is not available. - When will this be Available? This is still being addressed problem lies with the way the system operates and they need a compatible interface, date unknown.

There was talk of some Hot spots as well but no details.

Telecoms will also be meeting with a Local Telecom Supplier.

Hopefully RPM willput further details on their web site.

I note that you say telecon didnt know Manzana's was closed so there is no public internet access- another case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. Terminals in the supermarket would be a step forward although it closes around 9pm weekdays if I remember rightly and about 2pm on a Sunday. But even so this would be a step in the right direction.
