Cannibalism near Polaris World

I was talking to a local couple in a bar and got talking about the problems on PW with dogs !!! They then started to talk about Dog Hell near Polaris World.

Apparently it was in many of the local rags and free monthly magazines about an unlicensed kennel less than 1 km from PW. Last year there were over 40 dogs, in dreadful conditions, who were left for weeks at a time with no food. It got so bad that some of the dogs started attacking the weaker ones and eating them before they had even died . They even dug up those which had previously died of malnutrition or starvation and had been buried in shallow graves by the owner because they were starving. A few local english people have been trying with the help of a local charity to get this place closed down. The authorities removed 38 dogs after the cannibalism incident , many of which had to be put down as they were so ill.

The case went to court and she blamed everyone apart from herself for what had happened. The final ruling is still awaited but a mere 300 euro fine is probably all she will get. The site www.animalcrueltynearpolarisworld.com goes into more detail, She is supposed to have four dogs now but this has already crept up to eight, they now have a horse which they kept shackled (front legs tied together) again the police had to be called in to stop this. The horse is also being abused by the husband, apparently he was seen punching the horse in the face on several occasions for no reason what so ever apart from him being a bully or the enjoyment he gets from inflicting pain and fear on defenseless animals.

It cost 6000 euros to take this woman to court and I offered to highlight this case on here in the hope that those of you like myself are shocked and appauled by this and happening so close to PW, in the hope that if every one on this site could donate 1 euro to this cause it would enable them to continue to fight the case and get this place closed down.

Why doesn't the Local Authority charge this woman and her husband with animal cruelty, and impose a more punative punishment - or am I being niave to imagine that this could even happen?!

I seem to remember this being raised on here well over a year ago- unfortunately I think it was percieved as being posted by someone who was anti Polaris World resorts and trying to cause negativity. Clearly there was more to it.

Maybe if more people had taken notice, this sadistic cruelty would not be continuing today. Apparently this has been on going now

for over four years. I'm sure if PW new about this they would get it shut down immediately.

We are over some time in November & will definatly donate to the fund.

I know there are uk based animal charities that often cover cruely in other countries but cannot remember the name.

One I remember I will contact them

Many thanks for the link Arnold.  I still do not understand why this woman is not prosecuted.  I know people who are active in animal rescue who actually "kidnap" animals in extreme cases, which are then placed safely elsewhere.  Not a simple option, and back-up is obviously needed, but it is effective when animals lives are at risk.

All the injuries were caused through the neglect of this woman. Originally it was just her but two years after the cruelty began she got married and had a baby. The husband is now also an instigator of this abuse. He only comes to the compound now most of the time to inflict more abuse on the horse he has recently bought. He still does not bother to leave food regularly  for the dogs on his visits. They still go for several days without food.

The awful images in the video were caused because over a christmas period they did not come for three weeks to feed the dogs, the dogs were starving and the stronger ones preyed on the weaker ones and then killed them for food. Others were attacked if they came near food that had been put down on other visits, so the ones you see all skin and bones are those who were not able to get to the food. This apparently was not a one off as over the last couple of years they often leave it for a week between visits. I can't imagine only feeding my dog once a week !!!

I have names and address which I will PM to you if you so wish. These were printed in the local papers.
