Smelly Apartment

Hi all,

Please can anybody help to get to the bottom of the pungent sewage like smell from within our apartment?? we are in Jardines 3 and have had this smell on and off for nearly a year now we have had Polaris send round their people on 2/3 occasions, the first time they lifted the tiles in the bathroom to inspect the plumping ? then recently they lagged the waste pipe in the kitchen area which connects the dishwasher installment. I have been informed by Rob [keyholder] that there are others with similar type problems?? any fellow experiences would be gratefuly received along with suggested remedies?? if there are any??

We had this problem last year and Polaris took up the bathroom tiles and did something to the pipework (think pipes were flat and water not running away - or something like that, I'm no plumber!). This worked for us. If all else fails might be worth asking them to re-look at the pipework.

Were in the apartment is the smell coming from?

If it is the bathroom then it could well be coming up through the plug holes in the bath, sink and biddet as in spain they donot use any water traps on the plumbing.

We cured our slight problem by running water and bleach through each and then keeping the plug in place when not in use.

If it is coming up this way it may be a problem from the sewers.

I think Jardin 10 had a similar problem earlier this year as when we were out in June PW were digging up part of the bottom of their garden.

Many thanks to Phil, Debs77 and Lindaw for their responses, we will try them all in the hope to finally get to the bottom of this ongoing saga.

We found the smell came up through the open pipe where the dishwasher would connect to.  After reading something on here last year we put a cork in and it worked a treat.
