I know we have all had our issues last year with hire cars with a variety of issues as as such have shopped around rather than rely of DYS.

I have just booked through SIXT holiday cars for £440 v £575 for a similar car on Doyouspain for a 19 day period next year (high season)

No payment due until 2-3 weeks before hire period.

Has anyone else used them?

Brett

Hi

Haven't used this company but regularly used Carjet for a number of years before moving out here.  Used to come for the whole of the school hols in summer (6 weeks) and they were fine.  Very competitive and paid for car on arrival.  Always remember to check whether you return car  full or empty though as it can make a big difference if you have filled the tank and you have signed up to return empty.

Carjet have policy of full/empty but will also do full/full if you request by email after you have booked the car.  This is ideal if you are only here for a few days.

Regards
Anne Marie

Hi Folks,

Just booked flights for july and went to look for car hire,  again this coming year looks like if you don't book early it is going to cost a lot.   Have found a good comparison website for us all to use carrentals.co.uk.  Sixt holiday cars are also on here never used them so can't advise. sorry

Ali

The company I work for uses Sixt a lot of the time when we send people abroad.  No problems, as far as I'm aware>

Hi,

We just got back last night from a week in Condado and hired a car from SIXT at Madrid Airport (the 4 hour drive from and to Madrid was well worth it as the flight was a quarter the price of the flight to Alicante). We booked it through DoYou Spain and they were OK, decent price and the car was quite new and clean. Their charge for a full tank of petrol was actually fair, whereas we've seen previously  with other companies the full tank charge was €10-20 more than the actual cost.

George.

 Hi

I book through carsupermarket.com and last year I got a car from Sixt at Alicante Airport.  I was happy with the car I got.  They did not overcharge for the fuel but it was the usual full/empty scenario.  I would use them again.

Hi Cappielow,

We are interested to know if you had to use any toll roads on the drive from Madird to Condado, If you did then approx how much did they set you back. We are also in a position to fly into Madrid at a reasonable cost.

Also roughly how many miles is it from Madrid to Condado?

Thanks, Ken and Fiona.

Hi Ken and Fiona,

Madrid airport to Condado is 440km which is about 250 miles, and it's motorway all the way. It takes about 4 hours to drive if you don't get caught in traffic (we didn't), so for the amount of money we saved on flights it was certainly well worth it. So much so we're repeating it again at Christmas and in April.

There are a couple of toll roads near the airport which we used to avoid the heavy traffic, I think in total they were only about €3 or €4 each way.

Now we've done it once I have no qualms about doing it again.

I hope this helps, and good luck.

George.
