Warning - Be Vigilant

I was informed by another President (Los Naranjos) and Yesterday by my freinds in Jardin 9 that a council worker a Spanish lady was knocking on doors with papers with their names on?  trying to collect money for unpaid council tax? On a Sunday?

This we agreed was very odd so today i went to our administartors and they checked with council who confirmed they do not knock doors or work on a sunday, Condado security confirmed a Lady did enter on Sunday and claiming to be council and they took her name, passport number and Car reg,.

All this info has now been handed to the Police.

Be aware if someone knocks your door for Money.

Thanks for the warning.  I would believe that because we are a new resort that we will get chancers like this at least for a while yet , so  I just hope nobody was so stupid to give her anything.

Glad you can all find the funny side of this.

I mean, you if sat down and thought about it too much:- here's a woman with all our names and addresses going around with a council ID and asking for money, which some probably handed over. - perhaps you'd be slightly concerned.??

Guess it's lucking that those of us without a sense of humour got security and the police involved.

i expect everyone is very grateful for mick to bring this up, i am, i would have probably invited her in for a coool drink also.

however bringing in the funny side of it will keep it at the beginning of the posts and keep people involved and interested, instead of some of the drab people talk about, by the way i love the table clothes.

Yup, all our names and now which apartments are occupied and which aren't. Not exactly cracking my sides with the humour of this. If you really think these people work alone then you are niave- it wont be her who comes back next time.

However, I agree that all new housing developments get chancers.  So, I hope security are more vigilant because letting her in in the first instance shows how weak this system is- was she even stopped at the gate? So many of us aren't when we go there.  Bet she didnt get onto La Isla- sounds like its Fort Knox over there, which is what it should be for the rest of us.

Sorry if thats a bit 'drab' of me but a piece of news like this is a worry when you are not in a position to have the apartment checked regularly.

Having reported this issue to The Administrators in the first place, they have now sent me this message:

Regarding our conversation yesterday in which we were informed about the presence of a lady authorized by the city of Alhama de Murcia in Condado de Alhama.

Please note that this morning we received a call from the Local Police to ensure that this person belongs to a company contracted by the City Council to monitor and verify the personal data of the owners of each house.

In any case, this person will not ask you for money, but you will be reminded to pay the council tax, in the case that you had not paid it yet, thus leaving a notification. It is also possible that this control is carried out during weekends because on these days there are more owners at the Resort.

This information will be sent to the rest of owner by email.

So if someone knocks ask for ID and dont part with Money?

Incidently she did leave all her details with Security hence they were able to check up.

Thank you Sonatigh for posting this information. We await the email. I'm finally happier with the security if they did get her details from which is a big improvement.

My father in laws experience was that two people went around their resort apparently from the council- they had some id- and 'checked' the security on individual apartments. These apartments being fitted with a telecon and door alarm system. A week later 7 of the apartments were broken into and the alarms disabled and most people lost quite a number of items. One who had hidden a considerable amount of cash (!)  was left really out of pocket . Items taken were laptops, mobiles and other electrical items (small flat screen tv's from bedrooms) The burglars were in a 'van with a delivery company logo- with the slogan 'we aim to please' in Portuguese and went back and forth to empty apartments carrying a large box covered in delivery labels.

However that resort doesnt have a security gate system, which was another reason Condado and similar Polaris resorts appealed to us.

I have to say that anyone who has a keyholder is in a fortunate position.

Re the earlier post from Geoff,it's true I gave her money,but she told me she liked me.(I thought to myself,I,ve still got it)

And as for Geoff,the only girls he talks to are ones who ask for money......If you get my drift.
