Coming out next week and looking to book a table at La Caverna in Los Ventrillos.  Anyone on the Forum have a telephone number for the restaurant?

For interest and to get the whole spanish cultural experience I understand a drink in the bar 'accross the road' is a must1111.

Any fan of early doors (Phil Meaney and Craig Cash) or the pub landlord (Al Murray)  in the uk will understand what to expect.

I have yet to try it!

The bar opposite the restaraunt is unreal. It also doubles as a general store of some vintage description. They also sell huge loaves of bread baked on site. If you are going up to the Cave, a visit to the bar before of after your meal is recomended. It's a differant world. Chees, Mark

I am out on the 14th for a few days do you have the directions from Condado to the retaurant, also is there a need to book or can you just turn up. Also what is the bar oposite like.

Personally, I would book up to be on the safe side. We reserved a table for 8:00pm one night and by 9:00pm all tables were gone. I did notice though that by about 10:00pm one or two were free.

On the subject of the bar across the road, does antbody know when they are open because when we went to the restaurant, I can't remember any signs of anything else being open at the time.

sorry getting carried away, Halloween was last week wasnt it.

I havnt experienced the place but everyone I have spoken to says it is a must visit place.

The bar looks closed...some could say derilect but we tried it cos we arrived early and when La Caverna say they don't open til 8pm they mean it.

I know our spanish is very basic but the woman behind the 'bar' really didn't want to play nice. It is certainly an experince of 'real Spain' but not sure I'd want to repeat it. Gary thought it was hysterical and can't wait to go back!

The beer is cheap (litre & half for 3 euros) the place needs a good scrub the customer service is straight out of hell.......

We arrived early for our 8pm meal booked at the Caverna, which we enjoyed immensely.  Four of us called into the bar opposite for a drink. 2 bottles of beer and 2 tinto de verano's came to 3.50 euro. The bar is typically Spainish and is something to be experienced, it is part store/part bar, but many "real Spainish bars" are like that, they cater for the needs of the locals.  We live in the Campo (countryside) up in the mountains past Velez Rubio and so are used to bars like this. Also we can speak Spainish and found the young barman very polite and helpful. I wouldn't wear your white trousers in there though if you are planning to sit down!!
