A disussion has been ongoing on another thread about this topic and I thought I would start it up here as maybe peole aren't reading the other thread as its title is nothing to do with pools and solar panels.
I know on early threads the 1st group of purchasers discussed heating the pools- but like most things it had to die a death as no-one could come up with anything definate. But I seem to remember someone suggested finding a method of heating the pools that wasnt by specific solar panels. I think some sort of tubing and pump that circulates the pools and gathers the heat from the sun was mentioned.
i found an article that says that you have to fit an area up to 50% the size of pool with solar panels to be able to heat a pool efficiently. I'd hazard a guess most gardens wont want that size of compound created full of solar panels- but I could be wrong. However PW might not want the Jardins to have such compounds either- I'm not sure they'd feel they are aesthetically pleasing or in keeping with the lush gardens they want to create. Mind you maybe they could be sited to one side of the Jardins and just wired in.
I know it has been commented that the pools are being filtered and maintained throughout the off season to no purpose- but it would be a separate team who have to maintain the solar panels and filter systems, so another cost.
I'd like to think there is a cost effective method of heating the pools or just one or two, because they are wasted in the off season- so if anyone has any ideas I welcome reading them.
