Just thought I'd bring this to everybody's attention. I noticed this thread on Manilva Life forum about water bills, which explained the post office notification of a registered letter we received from Aguagest (the water company) - which I haven't yet picked up.
Just checking my bank account now and noticed a direct debit of about €76 to Manilva Ayuntamiento, re Agua!! As mentioned on ML forum, this amount appears to include the last quarter water bill, and a one-off payment to the water company (or the Manilva ayuntamiento!!).

Hi Jan
We picked ours up last time we were there, you have to take your passport to prove who you are, I am assuming this will come out of our account or do we pay it seperate.

It was just debited directly from our account - stating "Manilva Ayuntamiento" as mentioned before!! I haven't picked up anything from the post office yet either - in fact just received a reminder about it from them!

Someone told me if we didn't pay it within two weeks they cut your water off, I will keep an eye on our account and just hope they take it from that, it's some sort of new tax on the water.

When we arrived our water was off due to the bill not being paid.
Our Bank Manager was helpful and directed us to the Aguagest offices in Estepona. They redirected us to the Aguagest office in the main street in Manilva.
We paid the bill and the water was on the same day. They were very hepful.

Water cut off for surprise new charge !
Not helpful if one arrives late on a Friday evening. No water for the whole weekend !!
Thankfully I pay by direct debit for everything. But not good for those who don't.
