Don't think it is just a change of owners.
The bank may now own Al Kazar but they will want to make a profit and not leave it in the stagnating mess it is now in.
As opposed to Polaris they will share profits with any entrepreneur who wants to pay a good rent and take a risk on making profits.
All this must be good for Condado residents who are frustrated at the lack of facilities we were promised.
Confusion over the golf course today when a marshall told us to leave the practice area immediately so he could remove the balls from the driving range. Also the ball machine was taken away to La Torre and we saw it being loaded into a van.
He also told us the course would be closed tomorrow as the banks now owned it.
Asked in golf shop about this and Zara knew nothing about it.
Further suspicions arose when we were on the 12th and saw 2 marshalls and their manager (Manuel) removing signs from the course.
There is a televised competition here this week so I hope I am not being too pessimistic.

I totally agree and have posted elsewhere to that effect.
We should hopefully see the units in Al Kasar occupied with other restaurants and bars (please no golden arches) which in turn should make the Clover and the PW restaurants more competitive and may I say it "more customer focussed".
Time will tell if this is good or bad but this time next year could see a vastly improved and densly populated CDA with more links to the outside world through public transport and a new airport next door ready to open.
Fingers crossed
Paul

Very much hoping PW have resolved their problems and we hear tomorrow that is the case, mainly because finding new owners wont happen in a flash. Though I do see the attraction in new owners so hope PW found some for CdA..
But reading recent posts makes me despair that we are sunk; but hope I'm wrong and only because we wont get new entrepenuers in the Al Kasar at the click of a finger it will take some while.Has anyone looked at what size they have distributed those individual units at in the AL Kasar- hell of a size for a coffee shop, or little bar. Have you looked at Camposol ? They have units empty forever and dont tell me they are also more downmarket because they have a captive clientel who should be keeping it alive. Lots of retail outlets just dont w\ant to open new outlets and CdA isnt potentially profitable at the moment- too few residents or regular visitors unless we get all out families to buy and visit there on a rota!
If PW have gone I hope the Banks have a plan as I definitely dont want the Restaurant, Bar and Supermarket to close- disaster to the rental clientel.
Who have they sold the Golf Course to- I read PW had only sold the golf courses with a hotel on, is it owned by the Bank?
Please dont get me wrong and hammer me for being negative- I think I am being realistic and very much hope PW have some survival plan whatever it is that will aid us all. I hope the Golf Course is sold to another conglomerate and the Alkasar lined up for a potential landlord.
By the By, why and who was doing the digging at the entrance gate?

I with you on this, without talking the complex down, we have the potential for a serious problem if we don’t get the right result tomorrow. It appears that all the value for the banks is now in the other completed resorts and we will either end up with a fire sale on bits of the complex ending up in no coordination of projects for the resort or stagnation of any further development by the banks as it will not be in their interest to put more money in.
It is my friends a “white knuckle ride” for the next 24hrs or so until we find out for sure what the new direction is…..

Hopefully PW will have this resolved tomorrow- in one way or other. If the resort remains theirs lets hope they start to move forward other wise what was the point of the diggng by the entrance - drains??
I truly believe CdA has bags of potential and love the design and layout so dont anyone be getting me wrong about being downbeat. But, there are serious problems detailed here in this thread despite reports of PW sorting minor issues here and there and people thinking they are lovely. However, when you visit La Torre and Mar Menor you have to be very blinkered to say CdA is the same 5* as they are. We are not, we have potential to be a neat, well presented resort but we are not 5* ( I know we are unfinished)we're a resort that has cute apartments, but loads of them exactly the same, so maybe its time for the blinkers to come off.
If PW have gone I hope there is a plan from the Banks at least for the promotion and development of the Al Kasar.
No full time residents seem to comment regularly on these forums and it makes me wonder what they know- not in a bad way but they must hear more day to day stuff than most of us.
In a prayer for positive thinking lets hope tomorrow brings good news.

I agree with the view that CdA is not anywhere near the stage as places like La Torre.
But I also think there is much more potential for it to be better. For one the the road access and the layout I think is a lot better. It's one thing I think Polaris did very well. Simply a few years behind in the facilities.
As others have said its going to be a matter of wait and see who gets what if Polaris are gone. It would be a shame if come summer there were no new shops or even no shops! Especially if the increase in numbers we noticed around easter continues for the summer months.

We are planning to head over at the weekend and will keep you posted if we hear any news.We have to say though that in our view it would not be such a bad thing if PW were gone. Especially as far as marketing and developing of the Al Kazar is concerned. Complete shambles and as far as the bar and restaurant go , wouldnt do any harm if these were run by people who actually know the business of providing customers what they want. Noticed an earlier thread by Barney/ barry when he asked girl in clover about cushions for seats outside. Think they just could not be bothered and its this kind of attitude that puts a lot of people off. Im pretty sure if the guys in the golf societey had somewhere else to go for a few after match drinks they would. Our rant over for now but will keep you posted if we here or see anything when and if we get over.

We just got back early hours of this morning (interestingly with all travel issues, the unscheduled BMI flight we got changed on to was probably only 3/4 full...plenty of empty seats!!!!)
Latest we observed - the main office on CdA was vacated this week, and sign outside removed. The gym has been cleared out and the sportszone operator gone. Courts are all locked, but told that the Security guy has the key and if you call him, he comes to open them. the big nursery just outside the site with all the trees in it has been cleared out. Heard that the HO was now only operated by 6 staff. Golf course appeared to still be open
Lets wait and see what happens now. We have had a water leak in our bathroom from the apartment above, and a workman came out on Monday to fix the leak at least upstairs, and we were told that someone else will be out soon to repair our bathroom ceiling
Lets hope it all works out for the best

Sorry to be negative but what is actually keeping anything open on Condado or in fact any Ploaris World Resort?
If the restaraunts, pubs, golf shops, courses are owned by Polaris then who is paying for the stock, staff wages etc etc?
