Hi all,

Have looked at a new shower head from Ecocamel that suggests it reduces the amount of water used. Wondered if anyone had actual tried this particular make and if they found it worth while or not ?

regards nige

Hi Nige,

We have one of these fitted in out apartment. While I can't really verify what the water saving is, I would vouch that it works fine and sort of rapidly  'pulses' the water at you. From experience of the water heater capacity, I think without it by the time you got to shower 4 of 4 people the hot water would be getting to be on it's last legs. Another good reason for getting one as well as the obvious reduction in metered water.

Regards,

Hello Nige,

We got one and it does indeed reduce the pressure. Not sure how much water it will save but there was enough hot water for a family of four to get showered no problem!!

Cheers

Jay

Here's a free alternative.....

http://www.shower-smart.co.uk/

dodle to fit!

Saddo that I am I tested one of these in the uk basd on our water pressure by filling a bucket for 30 seconds with the showersmart and then without it. With the sowersmart fitted it only used half the water as without it.

Fitted it to our apartment in Spain fully expecting my wife to say that pressure is rubbish, particularly as we have a very good power shower at home and with her long hair she does like to give it a good rinse! but no complaints and it has stayed on.

Also, last year we invited out my in-laws so had 3 kids and 4 adults all getting ready to go out at the same time. With the showersmart attached we all managed (with me going last) to have a warm shower (didn't need any hotter as it was mid summer) and the water lasted for all of us. Not so sure the hot water would have lasted if the shower smart wasn't fitted.

I had ordered the ecocamel and tested but the showersmart did just as good a job but for free!

Hi I bought a mira shower head from simon who has an apartment on los naranjos.

The shower head is a lot better looking and gives a geat performance for those women things!

It also saves  a lot of water 6litres a minute, it looks good and works better than the cheap thing supplied and now we dont run out of water.

Lozza.

I'ver just ordered one of the free shower-smart kits.  It says it takes up to 42 days for delivery so will be some time before I can test it out!

Hi There would be no point in fitting any water saving device or shower head to an electric shower because your electric shower already restricts the flow to the unit so it has a chance to deliver you water at a warm temp. The bigger the kilowatt of shower the more hot water you will get out of the head. They work well on mains pressure units, mixer taps and conventional showers (from cylinders or combi's dependant).

The free shower kits do not work on electric showers, we have got one fitted to our shower in Spain, works fine cannot notice any difference in water pressure, but have noticed that the hot water does last longer. It definately says on the instructions not to use it on electric shower.
