Free Sat

Has anyone got free sat in their apartment? If so, what do you need dish-wise and any recommendations on installation, etc. I have heard some people have taken free sat boxes out from UK so they can pick up BBC, ITV, etc.

Any ideas, thoughts, experiences that may be of use would be gratefully received.

I understand that Absolute Satellites have the installation contract in Porto Fino and were putting up shared dishes on each block.

You then need Ab Sat to cable down to your apartment as normally there is conduit there but they only pull cable through when there is a request for an install.

You can get their contact details (email and phone) via the Sat TV section on the advertisement page on the Almerimar Today site.

Best if you contact Ab Sat and get them to tell you how much it would cost for an install. They could also advise about any other questions you have about Sat TV.

Our lad used to work for Sky and says that the installation fee from Ab Sat is outrageously high, he could do it in about half an hour so the bloke's got a very high mark up there.

I take it there are rules about putting your own dish up on your balcony. I know for most of them that they would probably look awful but on mine it could be sited well back as it is a very deep balcony - don't worry, everyone, I shan't do it.

So, got to cut costs somewhere. Anyone know where to buy cheap t.v.'s?

I know installation costs more in Spain. Also, as I mentioned in the article that I republished on  the Almerimar Today site reception quality can vary over time for various reasons.

However, I am not certain but I think that Abs Sat had to pay up front to install the shared dishes and associated infrastructure to enable the installations. So people are not just paying for the time to pull the cable they are also effectively paying for a share of the cost of the purchase and installation of the larger dish and distribution needed.
