We are interested to know if anyone has had any issues with damp inside their apartment following the recent poor weather.
We arrived this morning and have found 1 very large area of damp on a wall inside the apartment, along with several smaller areas. I will be going to see AEA tomorrow to see what they can do about it but would be interested to hear if anyone else has had a similar experience.
thanks
Lucy

Hi Lucy,
Yes I have same problem in the back bedroom and also the lounge.
Let me know how you go on as I need to sort it out when I next come over as we live in England.
Kind regards,
Rachael.

Hi
We have damp and condensation in our back room corner window area. We have been waiting for good weather for the repair work which has started today!
The after-sales team down at the port have been very helpful.

Hi
Our damp was caused by rain seeping through the window seals and ceiling of our corner window. We noticed that another block with this type of corner window design had the same problem, however, the exterior has been treated & repainted now and the interior will be painted when the walls have fully dried. Hopefully this will resolve this cause of damp.
Regards

I noticed that repairs had been done and some still in progress to the stairs in my block (8). Small cracks / gaps in the grouting had been filled. All were points of water ingress.
n.b. Last January I had noticed on the balcony to my apartment a gap in the grouting which I filled. Had I left it untreated, water would have penetrated to the to ceiling of the apartment below. A stich in time...... Not all owners may be so diligent, particularly where the apartment is rented. It might be useful for AEA to write to all owners asking them to be viligent of damp and report it promptly.
Another concern is the many empty properties. If these are not inspected regularly then damp will spead downwards given time and could do much damage.
I would expect RyF to keep an eye on their unsold units but what about the private owners who have seemingly lost interest (e.g. the many owners who have not paid their community charges for example)?
Whilst I am away I will ask my agent to keep an eye out for any damp appearing when making the regular inspection.
