If you need an interior designer....

We recently completed on a house in Corvera, and we hired Moira McGee as interior designer.  She has been brilliant, great designs and suggestions, she also did all the snagging for us and dealt with the management.  It's hard doing it yourself from a distance and she has made furnishing our property painless.  We're very happy to recommend her. Totally agree with S. Cleak. We also used Superior Interiors for our villa last year and have been delighted with the results and professional service.

Nothing was a problem and the quailty of the workmanship was top drawer.

I've already given my recommendations for Moira previously, but it is worth restating how delighted we are with the quality of the furnishings we got, not to mention the value.

Staff levels on Corvera will also be reduced over August as Spain in effect shuts down for the month, including the factories, but on the plus side most of the furniture stores are now having their summer sales with dramatically reduced prices with IKEA about to start their 50% off sale

More people, after the recent IVA increase are staring to ship items form the UK and I have mamaged to get some special shipping prices for part loads, form anywhere in the UK,  for Corvera owners so if anybody would like details please mail or pM me

Remeber that with spanish suppliers the price includes delivery and installation plus there are a number of people that will collect and fit IKEA items, you order online or in the IK, they do the rest

Finally there is still a great deal of high quality nearly new furniture on the market, normally sold by distressed sellers, these items cost a fraction of the price of new furniture and we have been able to help a number of forum members on Corvera, RODA and other sites with this.  

We either  find the required items and sending photographs and prices or taking people to the shops

I too would like to strongly recommend Moira. Her taste, eye for detail and quality of the furnishings were excellent.
 

We completed on our menta apartment at the beginning of June and used Inspectahomes to carry out our snagging reports.

Not only did Roy and Lorraine assist us with the snagging report they also assisted us with regarding to furnishing the property by advising us of sellers of almost new furnishings i.e leather sofas etc.    They photographed the sofas and sent it by email, asked the seller to hold it on our behalf until we arrived from the UK.    They then took us to the shop to let us have a look at the sofas.  We were delighted with them.  Not only did we purchase the sofas, we also purchased dining furniture, headboards etc.   If we had to buy all of what we bought brand new it would have cost us at least a further 2000 euros.

It was not our original idea to furnish the apartment in this way but having seen the quality of the furniture we had not hesitation. 

We are down in Spain at the moment and we are finishing the fitting out of our apartment in Corvera which is good timing as the sales are all finishing at the moment. We were not in a rush for furniture which meant that we could shop around and wait for some things as we learned our lesson on Roda in buying some items cheaply which we ended up giving away and replacing with good quality items. 

We were in Nuevo Condominia (forgive spelling as I cannot say it much less spell it) two days ago and the IndoTeka shop (which is on the top floor near the Disney shop) there was having a clearance sale. We picked up a brand new leather three seater sofa for 249 euro.  If you are in Murcia it is worth taking a trip there and it is near IKEA.

We have to arrange to deliver it ourselves but they had a man with a van and 30 euro delivery charge is a pittance and we have saved at least 800 euro. They had a range of sofas and tables etc from 149 euro and all great quality but floor models so perhaps just sitting in the shop for a while gathering some dust.

Well done Don I know the shop well and have taken a few people there plus you also have Casa and the interior dressing place on the ground floor nd that was a great deal

Also on the white goods 3 great places, Saturn in Thader and now Media Markt, and Worten that are side by side competing for business

The fact remains that if you can affird the time to come over and shop around you can save a fortune on a complete design fit

We have just put 5 sets on voiles from the bedding box, made up to the window sizes for €20 the lot, supply and fit IKEA poles, €30 each

With Susanne she used a combination of new and nearly new, new beds, a nearly pair of leather sofas, a superb dining table with leather style chairs, white goods from one of the big local suppliers and probaly did everything for less than €3k with no design fees

They actually  gave me an idea of what they wanted before arriving and budget and then we found it and can do the same for new stuff but the customer pays the store directly so it makes it a lot quicker when shopping around

 You are spot on Roy, I have the time now that I am retired but have neighbours on Roda and on Corvera who do not and the amount of money laid out on flights, hotels and the dreaded car hire is money well saved in using someone on the spot who can do the running about for you.

I was in Corvera golfing yesterday and spoke to a new owner who has used both your services and Moira's and they were delighted with the service they received. I was invited in for a "wee gleak round" and the quality of the furnishings and curtains were second to none.

Yorkshire Linen in San Javier, near Mercadona on the roundabout is the best value I have seen for bedlinen and towels and very handy for Corvera or Roda as you have to almost pass it on the way from the airport. 

I was disappointed in the new Worten place in Murcia as I found it expensive for a lot of things but probably are cheap for things that I won't be buying like games and dvds etc. I spent a good hour there wandering round while the ladies did some serious shopping and I thought that Media Markt was a lot cheaper.

The cheapest electrical shops are Saturn at Thader Murcia or Millars near Punta Prima

I bought a 50/50 fridge freezer for someone today from Mediamarkt Cartagena , no known name but with 3 year warrantly, and grade A for €279, one of their special becaus Worten has just openned there as well

The shop you went to in Murcia were actually having a closing down sale as they close next week

I would like to thank Steve for posting the reference of Moira at Superior Interiors as we have employed her services, which have been excellent.  Her attitude, professionalism and responsiveness are first rate and nothing is too difficult for her.  We were faced with the decision about furnishings - either takes lots of time off work over a period of time and furnish ourselves (which I admit would have been fun) or just employ Moira and let her take the strain.  I think the latter was the best decision, as the former was just not possible.  She supplied lots of photos via email with lots of suggested ideas, and discussed over the phone the various options, at which point we made our selections.  This, we thought, could lead to choosing the wrong items, but after visiting the property last week for the first time, we were very happy with her/our selections.  After checking out the prices in the Murcian shops we feel that her prices were also very competitive.
