Hello All,
I have not posted here for quite some time but I thought I would make some points, good and bad, after our visit last week.
So, my family were over last week to spend 5 nights at our flat. The idea was to spend a nice relaxing holiday with the kids hoping that the snagging items had finally been put to rest. Suffice to say, and it should go without saying, that our original plan went hopelessly out of kilter when we arrived at Corvera.
- A deep clean of our property was carried a few weeks ago and although it was done to a high standard I was informed by a third party that the floor tiles were not cleaned - they should be shining and the grouting should be near black. Covera/Calidona (and the cleaning company ) said that was not possible as these type of tiles (Menta P2) do not shine. Not sure who to believe, but anyone had the same issue?
- On Tuesday my wife was involved in a car accident a broken tibia was my worse fear - it turned out to be far less serious. I cannot praise high enough the help we received from Corvera Clinic - my Spanish non-existant and their English broken at best. Nevertheless, they went out of their way in helping us. After visiting a local hospital in Murcia and six hours later she was bandaged up, given some medication and was advised to buy some crutches. More work for me then . Always have your Corvera residence card and your passport (if you do not have E101 card) and buy travel insurance - do not scrimp or save on this!. On this occasion it only cost us 30Euros, which we will claim, but it could have been worse.
- On Friday, there was a huge electrical storm over Corvera and a power cut that lasted over an hour. I have never seen anything like it - once again I feared the worst and again I was proved wrong. No water damage and no leaks - there was a nasty sewage smell but it soon dissipated.
- On Saturday, the flight to Madrid was delayed by 2 hours, no worries I thought, plenty of time to catch our connecting flight to LHR. Unfortunately, our flight to LHR was cancelled and Iberia put us up, with 100 or so other passengers, in a hotel for 4 hours. We finally got home at 08:00 - we had not slept for 24hours.
- Corvera recognise that to attract more completions the clubhouse is a high priority . It's embarassing explaining potential golfing clients that a golf resort has no clubhouse. Hopefully there will be some positive news within 2-3 months. Could it be that they have seen the light?
- Anyone wishing to buy good quality furniture at knock down prices must pay a visit to Polaris World. It located on the C3319, after La Torre as you head towards the MJV. Some items were 90% off. Unfortunately, for us we had bought most of our furniture .
- I was pleasantly surprised as to the number of celebreties that had bought on the resort. I knew about Andrew Castle (ex GMTV presenter and tennis player) but did not know about Jeremy Bates (another tennis player). It would be great to see them playing each other at Corvera. I also heard that 3-4 premiership footballers , some RM and Barcelona stars had bought some apartments. Not sure if this is true.
- We were so glad that we took the time and made the effort to visit furniture, linen and lighting stores. We could have easily asked a third party to equip the flat as they see fit, but we wanted to "see and feel" and not to take things granted. The results for us and have been most satisfactory.
Finally, I would like to thank the people who visited our flat and wished my wife well. A special thanks to Chris who directed us to the nearest hospital.
Regards
Madhu
