Post

Hi from DV. Has anyone had problems with postal delivery recently? We have always previously had piles of letters when we visit every 3 or 4 months but this time didn't have a single letter or post office notice at the gate. Other people in our bloque appeared to have months worth of utility bills so I am confused by this. Any light anyone could shed much appreciated! Caroline

I am a tenant in DV and I know that some electricity/water bills are being taken by the property management/rental companies dealing with the apartment. In my case for example we had to wait for 2-3 months to get the actual bills, they were lost or something, but in general the post system in DV works just fine and they are very tidy, they are all arranged per blocks, etc.

Hope you will get them OK.

Having been back and forth to our apartment 3 or 4 times a yearsince 2006  we find the post situation is a joke. Post is returned to the post office after a couple of weeks and it is often incorrectly sorted into the wrong block. There are only 4 apartments in our block so I hate to think how bad the situation is in the bigger blocks.

It is about time that the management AEA and the committee instigated proper mail boxes

We have friends in other developments along the coast and none of them has the problem that exists in Duquesa Village. We pay high management charges so why should we have to endure this chaotic situation.

Thanks for your replies (and for the private messages I can't reply to from iPad here in Spain at the moment). We still have had no post since we were out in April. If we go to the post office will they have kept any returned mail Michael? I agree, there should be private mail boxes, big development or not. Each block should have a set of individual mail boxes. We have a cheque astray now and friends have parcels from the UK missing in the post chaos.

We have posted 'test' mail to our apartment from the UK a couple of weeks in advance of our visit.

And it has never been there for collection !   We will try this test again this month. 

 

 

We were in DV last week and we had not visited since May.

We asked at the gatehouse for our post and could only find one electricity bill.  We tried to ask for the IBI bills, but the security guard did not understand.

We decided to try again the following day when a different guard was on duty.  At first we were given the same pile of post to check through and found no further post for us.  However, as we went to leave the guard asked if we were owners.  When we said yes he took a pile of post from the back of the desk under the window.  Behold - it was the pile of IBI bills, so we managed to collect ours!

My advice would be if no luck the first time try again when there is a different guard on duty and make sure you say you are the owner.  The IBI bills seem to be in a separate pile from the rest of the post for your block and some of the guards are not showing this to you.

We were there last week and asked for our post.

The guard picked four batches and we found six items of post.  This is a record and very pleasing.

One of the items seems important.  It is dated 9th Sept and seems to be about the valor Catastro revisions.

Very pleased with the improvement.  Yes, seems liek good advise to try with different guards !!!
