Smoke Alarm

I believe there is a smoke detecter over the door in the kitchen. Could anyone let me know how this works and if theres has ever gone off. I was wondering if we needed to fix our own smoke detecter in case these were not connected. Thanks

I think that device over kitchen door is a ring bell.

Yep it's a door bell.  You will have to buy a smoke detector yourself.

EVERYONE PLEASE NOTE

installing smoke alarms may not be a good idea.

We have spent all week listening to a smoke alarm with a low battery bleep at 4 times every  30 seconds and then a 5 minute break.

This goes 24 x 7 and it has driven me fxxxxxx mad ! 

Unless people are going to be very systematic about replacing batteries or removing them before leaving

we are all going to drive our neighbours stark raving mad.  I am at my wits end with this alarm especially as my

flight home was cancelled due to general strike and I've got to stand another 6 days of this alarm - fortunately the house

sitter /dog sitter is ok with this !

The alarm can be heard several blocks away so I am sure it is not just myself who is troubled by it.

After 8 days of bleeps  the key holder did a check, saw may note and either replaced or took out the battery.

Now I know who to call next time  to get that damn smoke alarm silenced.
