 Hi all,

Just paid last of mortgage on casa in the campo and want complete feedback on corvera golf.Looking to return mid 2011 and willing and able to set up Sports Bar .Is there enough residents permanently there now  or is it a non starter still.It may even be in corvera town as that is where i have a long association with going back to 2001 when we first set our bussiness up and settled there.Please reply honestly as with  a commitment like this, that is what i need.   P.M in strictest confidence or on the forum i dont mind

great idea i lived in town for few years now and an english bar would be nice and good place to meet new people you would see me alot but i dont think there is enough people on the new resort to make it worth your while yet but it could also be the ideal time to do it before any one else does i would go for it if i was you i think you would do well in future exsepecly if you had the first english bar and got your regulars before any  body else opens one .

I think its a great idea as we spend the winter in Corvera and  would love to see a english bar open.

Realistically there are no more than 40 people living onsite including my son and his partner and this will probably reduce over the Winter period

From my knowledge one third of the people in resident are actually Spanish and most of the others have been in Spain a while now

The most popular local bar is the Cafe bar with the car on the roof and it seems to be used by most people, the Tapas place in Banos Y Medingo and travelling to The Spanyards Inn ob Feuta Alamo which is more busy when the football is on as they have large screens, with is around 17km away

One of the problems onsite is the lack of a meeting place but the problem with any place in the village is the drive, is there enough of a catchment area around there, realistically no,

I went to the Spanyards Inn Sunday afternoon where they target the UK owners, and it was empty, good prices basic menu, good service and realistically priced drinks and trying very hard but the staff there admitted that it was very quiet and this is on an establsihed resort but again you have to drive

The clubhouse on the resort however where we then went for a drink was busy with Spanish people 

Miguel does well with his BBQ´s but doesn´t open every evening and rumours are that he will close over the Winter months and he has run down his stocks of essentials as places like Leons in town have a fantastic range and are well priced

if you did open à place perhaps one important consideration should be a shuttle service to the resort but as far as trade from current residents I do not believe that it is there yet so do not expect to make money for a few years

 It is not about making money from the off as we know how long it took us to open and get trade with our casittas para peros ,as long as the residential numbers add up in 12 to 15 mths time ,is all that matters.This is not for the faint hearted and we realize that just having john smiths on tap will not be  enough

I think that the clue is in the heeading of your post when you asked for The Truth, which is how I answered the post, are there enough residents onsite, NOW, to make an English bar viable in the town, answer NO

I spent 3-4 days per week on this site and probably know most of the residents, would they use a bar, yes, would they use it enough to make it viable, no

The current number of completions is around 390, a small percentage of people are residents and I know woners of around 150 of those properties and 90% are holiday homes and most are planning to visit on a regular basis

Sorry no crystal ball for 12 months, no idea when there will be aclubhouse but I still believe to suceec the facility needs to be onsite

Roy is Spot on with his analysis of the situation. At the moment it is not viable. Take a look at New Yorks at El trampolin, its about 10KM away from Corvera and they work hard to get business, but even they struggle in winter and their Brit catchment is considerably larger and more established. It is a very good place to watch sport, and the food is very good value.

As a Corvera owner I think it would be a great idea to open a Bar in Corvera Town. I am sure there are a few people that have already had this idea and as long as you are in no hurry to make a profit why not be the first to get established.

 thanks to all who have replied but as yet still not received any round figures on numbers on corvera golf permanently.Only looking for a general figure as i know if they have sold 400 it may be busy julio and augusto but rent has to be paid 52 weeks of the year.Thanks to all
