We could all pay towards the club house but would that be fair on the ones who like the tennis or the ones who liked the restaurant ? the people who made these promises are scum (Polaris)

Well said Darren!! We all bought into this dream at a very big cost and whilst I have tried to remain positive there comes a point when you start to think we have all been shafted by the biggest bunch of con men going who have no customer service skills whatsoever and who treat their customer base with no respect at all.

The president on La Isla seems to be doing a good job and canvasing for the 3rd pool and club isla and he seems to be making good progress so lets see. Little by little is fine by me as long as someone keeps you in the loop and communicates whats going on.

Darren says he works in banking, he must be the cleaner! I have never heard anyone so pessimistic and depressing, whenever i read his ramblings I feel like topping myself.

I have been over quite a few times now and while it is not everything we were promised, the difference in just one year, during very difficult times, is in my opinion astonishing.

I would prefer to now evaluate where we are after the next year, if we make the same progress I for one will be relatively happy. We may indeed go backwards, but lets wait until we do before all the doom and gloom, it could quite easily go on for the better.

Dakey, you also mention the progress over the last 12 months has been astonishing, but this time 12 months ago we had a supermarket and a Bar.

12 months later we have a supermarket and a bar (a restaurant came and went), but I wouldnt class that as "Astonishing Progress"

Facts can be found or interpreted in a way to represent any point of view.  I think the point Darren, is that you sometimes tend (a little) to find the facts or interpret them in a less than positive way.  You wouldn't be the first and won't be the last.

Let's say a bar is giving away free pints...most would see the positive side but a few would complain their favourite beer is not on tap.  So same situation but one positive view and one negative view...but one set of facts.

As an aside, If a bank can't manage a golf course but can pay someone to do it...why can't they pay Olagolf to provide golf services (ie the clubhouse).

Banks can own and develop what they want to if it's in the interests of their shareholders and within the powers granted to the management team of the Bank.

In lots of circumstances the Banks end up owning businesses by default (debt for equity swaps / repossessions) that require further investment to protect the existing investment. Sometimes the banks will run these assets themselves usually by way of appointment of an expert management team (non-bankers), sometimes they will grant licences/leases to other businesses who then run the acquired businesses for their own benefit.

Believe me, the Spanish Banks that own parts of PW will be assessing each part to decide what needs what investment to stop the asset deteriorating beyond recovery (going backwards but not dying might not be a problem to them if it can be resurrected down the line with investment and a re-launch).

They will be assessing where to spend any money that could seriously improve the asset value (to sell) or improve cash flow to trade it. Maybe the business case for spending £300k on the clubhouse/services isn't strong enough right now (i would assume they are undertaking investment assessments on everything they've acquired from not just PW but many other businesses that have failed in Spain in the last 2 years).

Remember that Banks worldwide have capital issues right now, they also have to borrow money to spend it, so need a sound business case to do so ........... as for owning what they want then see this extract from The Independent a few years back

On the outer ring road there is the old sales office, this would make a superb clubhouse with very little investment, just re-number a few holes.

The banks need to look at there assets and make some decisions.

I am going to raffle my place off   1st prize weekend in Blackpool 2nd weekend in wales(i live in wales) 3rd weekend in camposol 4th 1 year on condado 

Condado means in Spanish no fucking hope ,and by the way the discount card came in handy ,never mind the coffee shop may come.  people down in camposol you know the ones who's houses are falling down and been called a number of names by condado people are laughing at you

Yep...you have some people who may look at things and see things less positively than most (and you can understand their view, if not agree with it)

Then you have others who for some reason just spit out nonsensical crap that adds nothing to any discussion.  Either very bitter or just trying to stir things up.  Either way probably best to ignore them in future.

Great points about what banks can and cant do, That was my point about Downbeat Darren, If he works in Banking he must be cleaning them cos his points by and large are non sensical for someone who thinks he is a bit clever. I would love to see just one semi optimistic post by him but I cannot see it happening any time soon.
