Tewwy

How dare you suggest we are fortunate to be able to afford a second home. Do you work 7 days a week? My husband does and as I write this he is on a roof in the freezing cold suffering a bout of winter flu, because being self employed nobody pays him if he's ill. It's both of us working extremely hard for the last forty years, not fortune nor the benefit sysem, that has allowed us to purchase our property.

You have actually left me feeling really angry.

Sue

Absolutely, we too both work many hours over and above what is classed as full time.  The money we have lost 'TUWWEY' is my partners pension which, he has worked all his life for to enable us to have a comfortable life.  As a result he is still working about 70hrs per week in order to meet our ever increasing living costs and, he is over the retirement age.  So when we talk about fortunate perhaps you should consider how fortunate we actually are!  I too am also very angry about the asumptions made in TUWWEY's posting how dare you suggest we have just been fortunate!

It seems that the community is divided with those people who have grasped the nettle and completed on what is or hopefully will be a wonderful site and those like me who have decided not to wait for the wheels to grind slowly and the paperwork to materialised, I therefore decided to purchase a property with all paperwork completed and with a couple of added benefits.  To be able to afford this I work two jobs and my wife works also.  We therefore initially tried to get Piensa to give some guarantee on completion but Yolanda in Head Office told me they were in trouble, that the bank had not granted their request for a further loan and they still had to pay for a sub station to be built. It was then that we decided to pull out and employ a lawyer to get our deposit back, unfortunately when we signed up the solicitors that we used failed to get us a bank Guarantee even after we paid for one that was supposedly provided free of charge.  We have enjoyed a number of breaks in our own property and have no intention of renting.  Due to Piensa's breach of contract we are also paying a mortgage on our new property.

Anyway, good luck to all whichever side you are on and my 2011 bring us all piece of mind, health and prosperity.

Best Regards,

Ken

Just thought I`d put my two penneth in here.......

To be totally honest if Stella & I had known at the offset what a roller coaster ride the last 4 or 5 years would have been we would probably have bought a place in Cornwall...but and it`s a big but (please no comments here!!) now it`s virtually all done and dusted we are both really pleased we stuck it out. It cost us, as with everyone else I assume, loads more than we had budgeted for and that in itself has exacerbated the problem but here we are in 2011 with a great house and some really great new friends.

I think the situation for people who are trying to get their money back is dreadfull, had we not been offererd a `completed` exchange house we would have probably pulled out, talk about bad timing eh... but I suppose things will improve in Spain over the years, I just hope some sort of justice will eventually prevail for those who are owed money.

Nice to hear you are all sorted now Ken...

Al the best,

Roger & Stella
