The fairly recently formed Roda Golf Society made up of owners and their friends held its Xmas bash a little early on Sat 27th November, despite some unusually inclement wet and windy weather over 40 golfers of various sex, abilities, creeds and nationalities teed off to brave the conditions. Thanks to all those helping with welcome refreshments on the 10th. Brandy and coffee may have gone down better than beer but the food was great.
In the evening the golfers were joined by the non playing partners and 64 of us sat to to an excellent traditional Xmas dinner at La Diva whilst it poured down outside, bad news for the smokers.
It was a rather raucous and noisy affair but I think a good time was had by all. As this society is all about friendship and social golf I will not bore you with the results but would like to thank Mick "The Grip" Reeves for sponsoring a number of prizes and especially to Juan Fran Martinez from Roda Golf and his lovely partner for attending the dinner and to Roda Golf for presenting a fine trophy as well as Roda Golfs, PGA professional Nicky Lawrenson, both for playing and joining us for dinner. Around 20 or so owners flew in specially for the event from as far away as Denmark and North of Scotland as well as Ireland both North and South, Wales, England and Spain which is a great credit to the organiser, Logan, who many of you golfers will know from the midweek swindles.
He has planned a full and varied list of society dates both home and away for 2011, getting us some very good deals and dates will be posted asap.
