help with internet

hello can anyone advise me if their is a way to connect to the internet without a landline or going to the club house.i come to roda about  every 6 weeks.i only want limited use on my lap top for weather emails ect.

Best things is to buy a USB mobile internet 'pay as you go dongle' from a Spanish telecoms provider.  I have a 'YoIgo' dongle ('Internet para llevar tarjeta') which I bought from a phone shop at the Dos Mares shopping centre and that works very well on Phase 3.  It costs 3 Euros per day to use, depending on data downloaded and I buy top ups through my bank ATM in Los Alcazares.  If you use extensively then there are other tariffs available.  Vodafone Spain and others do something similar.  It is much cheaper to buy  a Spanish dongle than to bring one from the UK on international roaming.  YoIgo web site is:

I would just caution others that reception in parts can be poor, ground floors in Phase 2 particularly bad due to apartments, penthouses seem ok.

I have a Spanish Orange dongle and it works brilliantly everywhere - except at Roda. Works ok in our small Spanish village at full 3mb.

Reception, unfortunately its nothing to do with whether you are ground floor etc it is all to do with the type of SIM card. The Orange one is 3G technology and that is not covered by Orange at Roda - not even in the clubhouse. Had trouble with it in Los Alcazares too. Works at a pedestrian 56k on Roda so if you want to look at graphical websites then it can be v . e. r. y. tedious. 

Carrefour do their own but not sure what the rates are and speed you will get at Roda.

Based on the experience of barryjw I went to the Phone House yesterday and enquired about a Yiogo dongle. I didn't have as much luck as he did with an English-speaking lady but the young man was very helpful. Based on his experience, he lives close by, I purchased the dongle (top-up) with 5 Euros free service. I'm pretty sure he said you could have 100Mb download per day at 3.2 Mbps max.

I had limited luck with it yesterday but decided to give it another go today. I loaded it at the ATM (mobile phone top-up) and am now sitting on my patio on phase 3b happily using the Internet. I have no reception inside but sitting out here (my patio is shaded from the wind) is no hardship. You can only load in 5 Euro chunks and it costs 3 Euros a day (midnight to midnight) so you need to do some maths but you can have it on contract as well if you use it more than I do.

glad   it works for you,you can top up your dongle at the post room under the 525 hotel in the square      

at los alcatheras in units of 11.80 euros odd number but it works add the change from your 5 euros makes 13.80 and

this gives 3 days more use idont know if credit carries to the next month if you find out please let me know

P/S you need all paper work you got from the phone shop to do this and it only takes acouple of minuts
