Just browsing through the threads and spotted yours! Hope you are all sorted now but if not hope this helps!
After 6 months of trying to get Polaris to sort out our hob we eventually managed last week for them to come out and check it for us. We couldn't check the hob when we did our snagging visit (no electricty) but since October 2010 we have been complaining to Polaris.
Our oven worked but not our hob and we were fairly certain it was just a loose connection ( had spoken to another owner who had a similar problem). We went to the Polaris office and asked to speak to someone from maintenance - the girl we spoke to was really helpful - got a maintenance man out to us that afternoon and lo and behold connection nowhere near where it should be connected! 2 minutes later and we were sorted!
It might be worth just asking Polaris to check - you never know it may just be a missing connection and an easy fix.
