DOYOUSPAIN - Care

As an avid supporter of DYS which I have used many times over the last 4 years whilst visiting CDA, I feel that I ought to point out that we need to be very careful whilst checking out their prices.  Of late, I see that their exchange rate they quote for car hire is ludicrously out of kilter with the actual day's rate.  I, like many I am sure, look at the £ rate and divide it by the no of days I am hiring for to get a quick idea of the daily rate in pounds before booking.  Only last week did I do the actual calculation from Euros to pounds and it was way out.  Since it is always payable in euros then I would advise anyone booking to do their own conversion to get a more accurate rate than the £ rate they are quoting.  I am still a fan of the site but just a word of caution.  Arlene.

Another note of caution re. Do You Spain...............they always used to do a second driver for free but we were charged at Easter for the privelege.

It it the first time this has happened to us (we were through Record rent a car via DYS by the way).

We too were charged for a second driver (me) but as this was the first time we'd used them we thought this was standard.

 On the whole we were pleased with them, but hubby has said he'll probably go back to carjet.com which is who he's always used, as he thought there wasn't much difference in the price.

We found them to be slightly cheaper but the add-ons negated that.

On top of that they did not return emails with a query we had so we cancelled (saying the reason) and used another firm

Ironically they emailed us to say our custom was valued and if we could tell them why we cancelled!!

 I have written to Doyouspain repeatedly to point out the inaccuracy of their exchange rate, unfortunately to no avail.  Only once did they reply to advise me that the rate was intended to be indicitive.  I adsvised them that was wher the problem lay, it is definitely not indicative but pure fantasy.  I'm glad they are not selling me a carpet, if they gave me an indication of how much carpet I should have to buy, based on their calculation I would be a few square meters short.  

I don't really see what the problem is.
They advertise rentals in Spain so their quote will always be in EUR. Personally I have always found them very reasonable and I would always convert to GBP myself rather than rely on any website.

 The problem is they are misleading their customers.  If they do not appreciate and respect their customers enough to get their facts right they shouldn't offer incorrect misleading fatcs.  If they only advertised in Euro's most people would convert to Sterling themselves, but if a so called professional company are stating that a given amount of Euro's equals a given amount of Sterling then that should be the case.  There is no point in offering a service that means nothing in relation to current facts.  If they advertise rentals in Sterling they should honour that Sterling price.

Please don't get me wrong - it was only a word of caution.  They really are a very good company to work with in most other respects and - very often - are the cheapest.  Andy says the rate was pretty close when he checked but it was way out the last few times I checked so perhaps they have sorted this out??  All in all, I still reckon they are one of the best around.  This time, however, I have booked with Costacoches as, remarkably, their rate was a lot cheaper and the fuel policy is much fairer.  (I was quoted 85 euros to fill up a Focus by Auriga last time!).  Costacoches give you half a tank and ask you to return it the same.
