By re-numbering the holes would that make you & your family want to come and play a round of golf at CDA or visit if you didnt own? knowing that you have a put-me-up bar in the Al Kazar! it wouldnt me.. Its all good and well making suggestions, but the golf course cant run on owners playing golf with the odd guest, it MUST draw in joe public, pro Tour events, owners from other resorts etc etc... and without the very basics this is never going to happen.
No matter how nice CDA is, and i love our apartment and would love to come more but work commitments stop us both, if we didnt own on CDA but visited the area for a holiday, CDA wouldnt be a course i would come and play, purely for the total lack of facilities..
The course is nice, range is nice, however on a golfing holiday you need more alot more.. You cant run a "Championship" course with just 18 holes..
And on the other hand you cant build and spend money if your not going to get the revenue back.. and CDA surely isnt going to get anyting back from building a multi-million euro club house..
if you had the spare cash would you invest your millions on CDA to build a club house knowing that the money spent will be at a potential loss for a very long time?
Darren, I am with you on that one. Unless they build the Theme park..

My post was actually a bit "tongue in cheek". I just meant that with all the vacant buildings available on Condado it would be better to utlise them and offer people somewhere else to go other than the clover - in fact another idea would be to use the old sales building on the periphery as a restaurant with decent and value for money food!"

that means staffing it, kitting it out. spending more money that they just wont do and money they dont have.
the current restaurant is hardly open.. i cant see them opening a second

I agree - on my last visit to condado the course was shut so I played Campasol once and La Serena once. On both occasions I required a shower after playing and really enjoyed being fresh and the pint in the clubhouse. Totally part of the experience.
It does and always totally disapoints me when I walk off the course at condado and have jump in the pool to cool down.
On my last trip to the course in Campasol our partners went to the spa at Sensol and paid 90 euros a piece for treatments which included a 3 course meal afterwards. We joined them and spent about 330 euros up there between us including food and golf.
A new clubhouse would most certainly make money aslong as it run correctly.
A new clubhouse is a must but it has to be of the right quality and not sub standard.

I have to say , my old club i used to love the Japanses bath once i had finished in the winter followed by loads of beer and a Katsu Don..
Trouble with CDA is, they cant run the clover, let alone a club huose

Sorry boys but I think you may have to be more patient. It will come but not until this world recession is over and Spains economy picks up and this will only happen when the rest of Europes economy is on the mend.
I would love to see a club house built but when it comes to Condado i have learnt to be patient

Yes, the permanent one will be sometime in the future. If we become host to a big tournament it might be a trigger for a clubhouse. I do however think it is possible to get a temporary one within reasonable time. And this one would probaply also make money. And make some of us reasonably happy..

Having recently returned from a golf trip in Portugal, I think it would be safe to say that nobody of note in the golfing world would touch Condado with a barge pole. We are light years away in the facilities department. Dream on.

Will,
you have hit the nail on the head, even the local tours are stearing clear.. much better elsewhere to be played.
Golf isnt just about a good course. you need facilities, and not just golfing facilities!

Hi all
In the absence of any clubhouse facilities over the summer for those of us heading out to relax, what is the latest on the Clover? If they have put the outside seating back, does that mean the Clover will be open throughout the summer under new management? Will they put on any entertainment like last year? Or are they (PW) hanging on to the bar a bit longer and what is the latest on the supermarket - will this be staying open? It is sometimes hard to separate speculation from fact - or does anyone really know what exactly is happening in the Al Kasar ?
Thanks for any info

You are in the wrong place if you are asking for people to seperate speculation from fact.
This site thrives on speculation (mainly to dismiss anything positive).
Facts get completely ignored.
No place for them here

Facts aren't ignored, people just have different opinions that's all. Quite a lot here, including myself are very positive. Of course you get the moaners, but that's the same the world over! I agree the condado services blog is always upbeat though!

Again at clover for weekly presentation with golf society (every week). Enough tables and chairs outside but glass has gone from tables.
We were there from 4pm until 7pm and the girl behind the bar put some cushions out about 5.45pm for a few sat outside. Ignored us who are there every week and we were sat next to them. Without cushions they must be the most uncomfortable seats in Spain.
2 male staff there who just pushed carts of bottles and barrels in and out together whilst chatting and laughing. They could have put cushions out.
Previous staff there was very good but looks like they have been dispensed with and they are running it down.
My glass is definitely half empty at the moment!

Barry, maybe they should introduce a bucket and cushion special.
Not only do you get a bottle opener on the string at one end of the bucket but a cushion tied to the other end.

I do understand the frustration from the slow progress on the clubhouse matter. I am frustrated too, as rumours indicated that it should already have been there. Let`s just don`t loose sight of the fact that we have one of the best golf courses in Europe, designed by Jack Nicklaus and managed by the company owned by Josè Maria Olazabal. It will eventually be ok. But we will have to push for it...

This is the proverbial chicken and egg situation if ever there was one.
If we had a club house and the facilities that go with it we would almost certainly get a senior tour, if we got a tour etc etc....
Having just returned from CDA I can say that the course is in fantastic condition and must be one of the top courses in Spain.
I spoke to the head green keeper, as I always do, and he told me that officials from the PGA tour had visited CDA and were very impressed with the course but would not consider bringing the tour until we have the facilities.
So the pressure must be on.
Other than the society players I saw very few other golfers on the course during the week.
I played HDA and their course and club house was busy as usual.
For CDA a sad indictment for a fabulous course with no facilities.
