There are probably a lot of non-golfers out there who never look at the society golf posts or website information.
But we are the heart of the community welcoming everyone to join us. Cath and Kev do a fantastic job arranging our social calendar which is open to everyone - not just golfers. Last week we had our presentation at Scottees bar in El Pareton which was also a family day out with a crazy golf competition (it was crazy!) barbeque, quiz, play your cards right, raffles etc. We got there at 5pm and left at midnight and the time just flew by!
If you look at the website www.cdagolf.com the social events and dates are there - just contact Kev or Cath.
Friday is my captains day on our fantastic course. I won't play but will be on the 1st tee to set all the players off. collect entry fees and inform them what prizes are at stake.
When the are all off I will then go to the 12th tee where my better half (Sue) and Pauline will give complementary refreshments to the players (beer, sodas, water, cold melon, peaches, grapes). This is compulsory - can't hit your tee shot and walk off!
When the players reach the last hole I will be there to take the scorecards and send the players to the practice green where they will get 3 balls for 1 euro to hole a difficult 30 foot breaking putt. Any succesful holes in one will share the prize fund. If no one holes it we will have a free draw at night.
Also there will be a 2's competition and longest drive and nearest the pin on al 4 par 3 holes.
The major prizes (captains prize and best gross score) will be top quality golf bags (Mizuno and Ben Sayers). Other prizes include golf shoes and golf green fee vouchers. At the evening presentation there is also free draw for all non prize winners, also a draw for non-golfers. There are also divisional prizes, including ladies and juniors. At my last check we had 60 entries and still have our weekly meeting tonight.
The presentation is at the Sensol hotel Camposol in the function room next to the pool. Presentation first, then a buffet followed by live entertainment from the fabulous Beagles.
Just wanted to point out that many people at the function are not golfers and just want to join for a great night out. If anyone wants to go Cath needs to know by tonight. Already about 80 booked.
