A2Z Internet offer - free Internal calls

 Have you got skype phones ? if so how much , trying to encourage everyone especially residents to get one. Have you tried connecting it to land line as well,? wondering if it will do 2 jobs, skype and internal 

 

maybe a registry somewhere of all skype names and internal numbers !!

 Hi David,  yep I have a few Skype phones in stock, Phillips VOIP8551B ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-VOIP8551B-Cordless-answering-machine/dp/B002OMHSO8/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1320168429&sr=1-1 )  following the link at the bottom for price.

They should be fine with the internal lines but haven't tried one as don't have the line connected as with internet and a skype phone don't have a use for the internal line?  Do have a list of Skype ID and numbers but can't really share as these would be private and down to the individual to share.  Guess if you know them then it's easy to find them on Skype.

      Does anyone know if you can take out a digital phone from the UK and once the internal line is active would it work as thought I read somewhere something about the phone having to be analgue. ?

 I have been using the Skype dual phone for internal calls and also phoning UK (via skype) for over a year works fine.

As i understand it if you supply your own phone you still have to pay 35€ to have line connected before it will work.

It is probably not worth having the Internal line unless you live on Condado. And you can call emergency numbers with your mobile

for external calls you can talk via skype with your computor.

I paid 50€ for the phone and internal line to Polaris Telecom but can only call 5 numbers.

 

It appears a quick 2 fingers to A2Z/ML on the phone offer. I consider they were not explicit in thier offer and i for 1 will use skype so if anyone wants my ID as Phil/Mick indicated it is easy to find it

Bringing this back to top. Trying to make arrangement for a2z to connect me to internet and tv only. Do not wish to buy their modem or digi-boxes. Just connection only.

Basically they are telling me if I DO NOT buy their digi box or modem they will not connect me.  Surely this cannot be right.

Anybody got any FACTS (not speculation or assumptions) on this matter please.

I had the wifi option fitted a few weeks ago in downstairs apartment and I was watching what he did . I believe if you could put a connector onto the wires in the box located in kitchen and connect outside in box located beside electric meter, there would be no reason you could not fit a router yourself. They would only have to turn you on from there server. Same goes for the telephone lines as the wires are not connected in the box to activate a line . I think everyone should be connected who wanted Internet and phone and allow them to choose/source the router/ phone

Yet again a deal that sounded to good to be true and £160 euros lighter

I sorry but this threads has went the usual way, Okay so we had to pay a one off fee to have the internet installed but remember we are now getting the package for around €4 per month so let's have a bit of a reality check.Just pay the connection and router fee then enjoy the benefits we have all been waiting for or live without it.

 

 

 

Well said Heslop 001. Some people are penny wise and pound mad. Why spend umpteen thousand on an apartment and then whinge about a few quid on a router.

I also watched the guy install my router. These are live wires at the wrong side of your fuse box so you can't swith them off - so beware if you decide to tamper.

Whoa.Cool it guys. l only asked for the option of buying the modem and box cheeper elsewhere.Free market is it not? Or did you all go out and furnish your apartments at the first price you got. Regards to hot wiring that is not what I intended nor did it come from me. Just looking for a cheaper legal way to do it. Incidently this has now been sanctioned by ML. So please dont be too quick to judge then wade in. Thank you.

The cable is already connected to the amp in the outside box, but that's not enough.  You have to buy the A2Z cable modems are they use DHCP reservations which uses the MAC address of the modem, so stickig your own in would not work ( tried, have two spare modems to prove it ) .  The same with the telephone, everything is connected at your end but it needs the link putting in the exchange, which they charge €37 for.

We have just paid to have the internet installed by A2Z. After leaving Condado last week we complained to them that it was still not working but have had no response from them.

Also complained to them that they had not installed the equipment we had paid for (wifi modem) but replaced them with cheaper items. Our main complaint though was the dangerous method of installation.

We don't normally post on forums but wanted to warn people what they may receive for their money. They have chosen not to respond to our emails so we will now be contacting our credit card company for a refund. 

Hopefully people will be able to see the photo of the standard of their work.

Really like the way he has cut off the earth and used the bit of wire to connect to next block, you really need to complain and point out that you do not use green and yellow on live and neutral, breaking all regs, that engineer needs shooting. We had ours done and all works fine.

€33.63 taken from my account yesterday for internet package

 I agree with andy using the green/yellow cable is not an option, it was just laziness on behalve  of the engineer?

Get them back, and do the installation properly!! You would not get away with this type of shoddy work in the UK
