Will have to agree to disagree on that one - I don't consider that it is a move in the right direction at all. We have buggies and somewhere to pay fees in the Al Kazar so why move these tin shacks next to the course? My understanding is that this is not a temporary club house (to provide bar and restaurant facilities as we expect from a club house) but just somewhere to get changed, pay fees and park buggies! How is that a step in the right direction ? It doesn't provide anything that we haven't got already other than a shorter walk for golfers (or a shorter ride in their buggies).
As SVH says in his very sensible post, the most important thing at the moment is to keep Condado looking attractive and presentable both for the current owners and potential buyers. What kind of impression does it give to have a tin shack next to what is supposed to be one of the top quality golf courses in Spain?!!!
I will also be e-mailing Millenium to express my serious concerns about this ludicrous idea. It's not about stamping feet and complaining about what we haven't got, but about trying to make the best out of an unfortunate position and not allowing the resort to deteriorate. Once these shacks are in place, it will be much harder to get them moved than trying to prevent it happening now.
Does anyone know where this ludicrous idea has come from and who has agreed to it? If it's Millenium then they need to be sacked!

Hi
Arlene is correct we should all bombard Millenium with e-mails and calls about this ridiculous decision as these eyesores once moved on a temporary basis will be left there forever more.
At the end of the day Milenium work on our behalf and should be acting on any issues we take to them, if enough people are behind any complaint they should be resolving them.

From the Condado Services site the news seems to be that its the old sales offices they are moving not porta cabins. It was the old sales office that featured in rumours a couple of months ago and not the porta cabins from over the far side of the resort. Whilst the sales office has stood empty for some time and many may feel it's not quite what we needed I'm sure they'll refurbish the building and do some landscaping around it. From the other site the news is that it's too be a pro-shop and clubhouse so hopefully somewhere to get a drink and maybe a shower for folks after their game of golf. Whether its to be a full bar isn't detailed- coffee and cold drinks maybe, who knows?
As I recall its a building with lots of large windows and a fairly big balcony so lets hope they can make something of it and just be pleased that we'll have something practical. There's clearly no money out there for building or buying a new building so recycling that building would at least stop it becoming an eyesore for all to see along the ring road- Just a pity they couldnt use the more recent brick built sales office as the club house . Too far from the course to be practical no doubt and too expensive- but a nice building.
Apparently they'll move the old sales office close to Penthouse 1 and the golf buggies will be resited there too.
Mind you from reading ML's message it's not clear what building they are actually talking about, so fingers crossed Condado Services have it right.

LOCATION OF PROVISIONAL
BUILDING PREVIOUSLY SED AS
ADMINISTRATION OFFICE.
IRM Head Management has informed to
us about the following: the provisional
buildings that were used as Polaris
Customer service point and later as
Office of the Administration, are being
moved into the Golf Course.
All the services, pro-shop, changing
rooms and vehicles for the Golf,
currently located in the Commercial
Centre Al Kasar will be moved into these
huts.
The starting of this is scheduled for
beginning of next December 2011.
This is the relevant section of the e-mail from Millenium - as far as I am aware the building that Jann describes was never used by Polaris as their Customer Services office and was certainly not used by the original resort management company. We completed on our apartments in June 2008 and the portacabins were already being used as the Customer Services offices. When they moved out, IRM moved into the portacabins. Things can often be lost in translation but I doubt that Millenium would describe the old glass sales office as "huts"!!!
If it is the old sales office then that could be made reasonably attractive but I still think it is the portacabins that are being talked about - they could presumably be moved fairly easily whereas the old sales office is presumably a fixed construction.

Jan,
I think CDA services webpage is showing misleading information. That old sales office as shown in the photograph could probably be tarted up to resemble something like a temporary clubhouse with good sized windows to provide a vista out over the course. My understanding of this situation is that it is the industrial style cabins that you pass on the left as you drive into the main entrance of CDA that are going to be used. I am with Payton & SVH on this one - what are we actually improving by doing this ??
Please someone correct me (Ptan ?) if I am getting the wrong end of the stick here.
Regards

HaHaHa. Great photo Darren. Brilliant! (I love the way people on here mostly just ignore you now) HaHa
It's probably not as handy as having the pro shop beside the supermarket for to buy water etc as the pro shop doesn't sell anything and I imagine this move is to help the golf course business management save money on renting several units in Al Katraz.
So although I can imagine better ways to deal with this situation,(much better) as a business owner I can understand the want of the course management to help stop hemorrhaging the little funds that the golf course already raises, unless the units at Al Katraz were donated free, which I doubt?
As a golfer, I'm hoping that the pro shop will have a facility to sell cold water and snacks etc. maybe even cold beer and comfy seats and if it's the two story building with the glass front that I'm thinking of, it'll look great and much better than a lot of club houses in the UK and ROI that I could mention and it will provide a great service while looking good at the same time.(especially for a temporary building)
I believe the resort is in much better management hands now and they have the resorts best interest in mind, so I for one thank and support them for what they are doing to try to improve CDA into a great resort that we know CDA might eventually become in 50 years.(lol.sorry, couldn't resist that)
Geoff

Why do people speculate so much without waiting for clarification??
Anyone holding their breath for a club house as origionally planned will be waiting an awful long time as that went down the plug hole with Polaris.
In my opinion Milenium do an excellent job on the resort.
They are dammed if they dont look to do something about golf facilities and when they do something people still moan.
We would be right in the cart if they decided to walk.

The portacabins are not just huts, if you actually go and look properly at them, you will see that they are properly fitted out inside and fully air conditioned, here in the Uk all types of organisations use these cabins, and some are pretty well permanent, many schools use them as a cheaper way of extending there buildings, so have a look and when they are put onto the waste ground that is prepared for a building see what they are like, or just leave it as it is when golfers have no facilities to eat or drink and you have a lovely piece of waste ground where they can all meet up. Unless of course when you email ML you have agood idea where a couple of million euros is available to build a clubhouse, lets have a reality check!!

I don't think its a fantastic idea but considering the area near the golf "carpark" looks like a building site anyway maybe they won't be too out of place.
I at least hope they do put them in a position that allows a view over the 9th/18th greens so if they do sell drinks you can park up your buggy and have a drink while watching others finish out. This view is fantastic and not many golf clubs I've played can boast anything as good.

Fly in the ointment time - from the email I got I am sure it said the location for the hut was at the side of Penthouse number 1. Can't understand the logic for that if it is correct.
Regarding the CDA Services website - I always take a large dose of salt when I read it. Whilst I support what they are trying to do with CDA, a lot of what is said is driven by business promotion and is exagerated. However, I do hope the former sales office is the hut and not the white ones as I remember the sales office having a roof top viewing area that would be fantatsic for a view over the course for those who do not have penthouses.

If thats the case this is merely to move their operations to the course and probably save on costs. Its not going to add anything significant for golfers.
But it will be nice to be able to pay for the round near the tee rather than at Al Kasar. And if Al Kasar is to get more shops we couldn't have golf buggy's whizzing in and out among everybody.
I always had a great time even when we had to pay at Al Kazar and wait for the Clover to open to have a drink...so with the pro shop beside the first tee and the condado club doing good by the society I'm looking forward to some more good golfing days.
Still hope to see the day when we can relax after a round with a beer in our clubhouse overlooking the 18th and 9th!!

For a start will people stop saying what mileniun should or shoudn't do. The golf course land is nothing to do with them.
Lets wait and see what these 'huts' actually are. It was similar at Hacienda Requelme with portacabins for changing rooms and a small bar in a wooden building. They now have a fabulous clubhouse which has been built since the recession started.
It could be that we will get the old sales office for a clubhouse and the cabins also. But we need more info before speculating. Surprisingly, Olagolf management knew nothing about this. It has been initiated by IRM.
I think you can discount reports about them being sited at penthouse 1. Assume it is a typing error.

It may well be nothing to do with Mileniun but I have a relationship with Mileniun whereby they are paid to accept and consider my opinion on how the resort is run. I fully expect them to accept my views and opinions as well as those of other fully paid up owners on the resort. I also agree that they have done a sterling job thus far and I am happy with them. If the building used is the glass sales office then I am sure it will be an acceptable temporary measure. If, however, those 'huts' portacabins or whatever you want to call them are used then I, for one, will be pretty p***** off. Ugly, ugly, ugly shanty town buildings. Only my opinion but I would rather let Mileniun know now than have them dumped on us and then try getting them shifted!

The old sales office did have some admin going on in it as well as all the promotional models back in 2007 but it's true when we completed in summer 2008 everything had moved to those portacabins at the back of the ring road. So, we shall just have to wait and see.
Lets hope the location is wrong on the info we have and they at least make them presentable- having something on the course is better that having nothing. They are large buildings if nothing else. But, I'd have prefered the old sales office if we'd have had a choice.

I agree that if this is about the golf course then Mileniun aren't making the decisions. But if they do have some pull maybe they could get the rough cut a little shorter??
