Darren, Jann,
Thank's for the recognition re: kicking off a thread that may be of interest to other than Man U/City fans. I never really thought or expected our apartments would be '5 *', it was just the surroundings & facilities I was dreaming of at the time. If you think about the planned expensive villas, as long as they were surrounded by same and front line, there is really no reason why it would not work. I cite La Manga as an example of this where the complex has a good mix of more modest properties alongside the posh pad's (albeit a little more pricey than our humble abodes) !
To me, this was the model that Condado was based on.
Regards,

Shane, I would prefer laser sights rather than a laser pen! Not sure they sell them at the Chinease store, could maybe pick some up on the back streets of Cartagena?
Glad to hear you keep your kids under control.... and your right, I am not very tollerent of the ferrel kids, especially ones who think they can offer laser eye surgery from 400 meters!
Billbo, I agree that La Manga has a good mix of apartments and Villas, but each phase contained a mix of properties. Had La Manga Club, knocked up 3000 plus apartments, sold them, then tried to sell some of those multi million pound pads, I think they would have struggled.
Maybe its best to try and sell now, while a few people still think Paramount may happen, once people realise its gone the same way as Harry Potter World, Peppa Pig Park and Hannah Montanna Land, values may drop further?

Actually Darren if you're serious about cutting your losses now would be the best time to sell as sales (if not prices) are definitely being inflated by the prospect of Paramount. If Paramount doesn't materialise you'll never be able to sell it, unless you want to practically give it away. So I'd get in now if I were you, otherwise you might miss the boat.

"It would be like building a million pound mansion on a council estate."
With respect to any council estate dwellers, many of whom are fine, upsatnding citizens - what a derogatory remark to make about your neighbours on Condado.
Bitter and twisted are some terms that come to mind.

Jeb, Darren is a wind-up merchant per-excellence, I wouldn't get too upset about anything he writes on here. ;)
FWIW I actually like Darren's posts, if you read them with a tongue-in-cheek attitude they can be quite funny. :)

Capipielow - Glad you get my strange sence of humor. Oh and I spoke to an estate agent today, will let you know when you can start my leaving celibrations!
Jeb - If, like you rightly point out, "Council Estate Dwellers Many of Which are Fine Upstanding Citizens", then I am not really insulting anybody? I dont mind being called "Fine" or "Upstanding"
I was simply pointing out that if you had 3000 houses valued at around £60K (like in Condado), I Wouldnt want to buy a million pound mansion next to them. I would prefer my mansion to be surrounded by other properties of a similar value... or even in its own grounds with no neighbours.
I was not insulting any residents of Condado, or any people from Council Houses. In fact I would imagine that the average council house in the UK is worth a lot more than £60K (even here in Bolton!). The comparisan was simply would you build a Mansion next to a vast number of lower value properties.....
Instead of trying to extract an insult from my posts, try and understand my point. I am building a couple of houses at the moment and can tell you that the exact same house in 2 different locations can be worth vastly different amounts.

Gosh!! Darren does make me laugh- my Mum used have a stall at Westhoughton Market Hall in Bolton and we lived on a council flat!
As the 'buzz' about the sale of land could persuade speculators to part with a bit of cash in the coming week then this is the time to advertise a property. After 6th Feb( as Jann rightly reiterates) if the land deal goes through then it may be that a bit more cash will forthcoming for properties. However, I'd be waiting till they at least dig up the first cub of soil before parting with money. There's a property forum called Spanish Property Insights thats really for speculators and those property agents looking to find the ideal location to make a big hit. They have commented that if Paramount is iust a hoax and not reality then various bodies in Murcia have spent a packet of money on a hoax- in present times no one has money to spend on a hoax so they are persuaded the deal/proposal is genuine. However, if they cant get the money together thats a different matter.
Lets be positive as Paramount Park could make CdA even better- not what we expected but even better than we have now- so fingers crossed for some 5* glitter!!
(If it doesnt happen then so what ,most of us like what we have and in time the resort will develop- all those new sold properties bring in more commuity charge afterall!)

Jeb - Bilbo admitted he started this tread to try and stir some emotions and liven up this forum! I commend him for that, it's brought me out of hibernation and it's great to be back! If you cannot accept people who have different views or you feel this thread is too emotive for you, then maybe you should stick to football supporters thread and spend you days arguing over which team kicks the ball the best! I promise I will never ever poison that thread like a rusty pipe at Sellafield! TQM - Westhoughton Market, what a place! Know it well, grew up in Horwich! Of course to balance thing out and in the interest of fairness I have to state that the markets at Condado last summer were equally good! Jeb hope that didn't offend you too much!

The Paramount Park and Lifestyle centre is getting closer and closer to being a reality, following the reclassification of the land in Alhama from agricultural to buildable by the Town Hall in Alhama. Following this reclassification Premusa, the development and construction company headed by Jesus Samper, have agreed to make a transfer in the amount of €16 million for the land on February the 6th. On this date the land will officially be transferred to the company in front of the notary and shortly following that building work is expected to begin. According to Jesus Samper, construction on the park will begin in March and the inauguration of the Paramount Park and Lifestyle centre is expected in April 2013. The Paramount Park and Lifestyle centre is hoping to attract more than 3 million visitors which will considerably boost the local economy. Jesus Samper has also agreed with the Town Hall in Alhama that all jobs that can be filled by people that are residing within that municipality will be given to them: prioritising those that are currently on the dole and registered as unemployed before other applications are considered.
Jesus Samper, the President of Premursa (Proyectos Emblematicos de la Region de Murcia) and the owner of the Real Murcia Football Club, has announced that it expects to begin the building of the Paramount Theme Park before the summer of 2012. Jesus Samper has indicated that with just 40 million Euros he should be able to start the building procedure with moving machinery onto the site in Alhama de Murcia. In addition to the building of the Paramount Theme Park, an industrial and leisure estate title "Lifestyle Centre" will also be built. According to Jesus Samper he has already received favorable indications that five large investors from China and America will be willing to invest heavily in the project. "They like the idea of mixing a theme park with a lifestyle centre at the moment we are just number crunching, we will also be pitching the project to the Arabic community and looking for additional investment from some 30 or so Arabic businessmen". According to the owner of the Real Murcia football club, one of the first things that will happen is that plots of land in the Lifestyle Centre will be put up for sale to try and get some funds from that direction. Preliminary agreements have already been met with the various owners of the land in Alhama de Murcia regarding the purchase of some 1.6 million square metres of land for approximately 15 million Euros. The license for the Paramount Pictures Theme Park has already been paid for and cost some 2 million Euros; 20% of that was given by the Murcian Government.
According to Jesus Samper, he is looking for 446 million Euros in total to consolidate the project. A third of this should come from the sale of plots of land within the lifestyle complex, another large part should come from private investors that are backing the Paramount Park and the remainder will be obtained from bank loans. "First we need to urbanize the land because at the moment it is rustic use then we need to prepare the parcels for sale within the lifestyle centre. This will allow us to create sufficient funds to continue with the project. We aim to open the theme park in 2015 and are expecting to attract in the first year 2.7million visitors with the objective of reaching 3.6 million visitors per year within 10 years. "According to the business plan, which was presented several weeks ago in Madrid with the vice president of Paramount licensing Michael Bartok attending, the building of the Paramount Theme Park and Lifestyle centre will be creating 22,000 direct and indirect jobs; the majority of which, some 16,000, will be during the construction phase of the project. According to Samper, the project should generate a huge income for the local economy bringing in some 535 million Euros per year which, according to Samper, represents 2% of the regional GDP. The President of the Region of Murcia Ramon Luis Valcarcel has announced that the Regional Government will back the project and will actively be seeking further investment from other entities such as the Saudi Fund for Development, the Commercial Bank of Qatar, The Investment Bank of Iraq, The Faisail Islamic Bank of Sudan and BankMed.
President Valcarcel stated, "We intend to improve our ties with the Arabic countries with the aim of generating adequate bases for further commercial relationships which will secure the solidarity of the Region of Murcia for the future." In a recent meeting in Torre Pacheco the President of the Region of Murcia stated, "The future for Murcia is looking bright. During the boom years Murcia was leading the way in development and even in this harder time of crisis there are sill lots projects: the new International airport in Corvera, the Mediterranean train line and the tourist complex Marina de Cope - which will be one of the largest tourist projects on the Mediterranean. Then, of course, there is the Paramount Them Park which is innovative and stands above any other project or park in Europe."

Jailor I: Shut up, you!
Prisoner: Sorry!

Oh good grief- I'd forgotten the CdA market- Darren , it's almost unbelievable but I'm with you on that. So much enthusiasm for the market and aside from the food (which was excellent) so much tat! Not 5* at all.
I applaud the idea, but the weekend we went a troupe of parading dancers wandered threateningly about dancing to discordant music in steaming heat herding shoppers into the trestle tables. A short thunderous one at the back spent the whole time tweaking her undergarments and being two steps behind everyone not unlike Corporal Jones (Dad's Army). The stalls of shoes looked like they'd been dumped by a forklift truck. People staggered about, faint and dehydrated because The Clover was packed solid right out to the water feature plus they complained fairly loudly about the prices at the Restaurant
Before I get criticised I do think the market idea has potential and the food was very good but much of the rest wasn't quality I'm afraid. Our guests toured about looking for handbag stalls and clothes stalls 'de Marbella'
I now read there's to be an indoor martket in the Condado Club. I understand this is all about tempting people, giving people something to do and enticing a few euro's from everyone's sticky paws- but an indoor Market.!! I do think the 5* could have crashed and burned and unless the stalls sell quality leather goods, glassware, local art.,pottery and designer gear.I dont hold out much hope but no doubt we'll all go and say it was wonderful. However, if its the one that sets up in the cormer of the ten pin bowling place on Camposl it's not that wonderful at all.
I am not being critical of the people who have worked to get this event staged just that its not really what I was expecting on CdA- but that's me and we are all entitled to our opinions-are we not?
I'm soon off to Talinn, Estonia- I'll report back if they have any better ideas of how to entertain people and how to tempt people to spend money!
Roll on Paramount- I'm now not sure what this project could mean to CdA!

TQM, you are much braver than I am, taking a pop at our markets (if it helps you can tell people I hacked your account). I thought the markets were the best I have seen in ages and definately on par with Westhoughton Market. The only stall I didnt like was the one that sold laser pens (Dam those pesky kids and my partial blindness!)
If Paramount comes (and of course I am more than a little sceptical) than it could see and increase in occupancy for those who wish to rent out their apartment to the construction workers. As its one of the closest Urbanizations.
I think Condado could become like the set of that great 80's series "Auf Wiedersehen Pet" full of colourful charactors. It could give a welcome boost to the local bars, knocking shops and of course our wonderful new clubhouse.
Maybe the new indoor market could have a stall selling high Vis Jackets, Hard Hats, Work Wear and Tea.
