Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if there is the facility for broadband internet locally yet? It would be good to be able to work from San Cayetano. I thought I saw on previous emails that some people were going to work from home, I'm hoping someone has some news.

I looked on the telefonica website and I know it would be available, but the website implies that we stand more chance of telephone lines etc, if we all order together.

Just looked at the weather forecast - tomorrow it's going to snow in England - and it will be 26 in Murcia!

Karen

Hi

There is a local internet cafe in the village but obvioulsy that is different to working from home.

We will definately want broadband so I guess we will have to find out how to go about getting names for people who want it so we can put the order in.

HHHHmmmmmmmmm thinking caps on.

Hi Karen

There is a posting around the end of November started by Harry & he had investigated costings through Telefonica & put the website address on as www.telefonicainenglish.com

We enquired about this through our agents Medsea & they told us we were best getting the telephone line in from telefonica & then shopping around for broadband packages as there are some companies such as Europa who offer a good deal. However we haven't investigated this any further.

Think it's a good idea Tina if we can see if we can get together & get a deal - all we need is someone fluent in Spanish to negotiiate for us. Hint Hint !!!!

Kind Regards Sue & David

Hi Tina

As broadband is being discussed I looked back at this thread, wherabouts in the village is the internet cafe???

All we seem to do everytime we go over lately is shop & work on something in the house!!!!!

Perhaps next visit we'll get some time to explore the village

Best Wishes Sue

HI

If you come out of the urbanisation with the taray office on your right and head towards the bakers and then the cafe... behind that cafe is the internet cafe!!

Hi folks,

Have there been any updates on the broadband situation? We'll be heading out soon and I wouldn't mind an extended stay while we get the place furnished etc... would nice to be able to do a bit of work if I did this.

I noticed someone mention mobile broadband below and I came across the following price list for the various providers.

[removed] - right, seems I can't post a link until I've made 10 posts. Fair enough, I've copied the gist of the article at the bottom.....

Seems quite expensive so may be a better bet for connecting on holiday rather than 'working from home' out there.

Any thoughts?

Just returned back from San cayetano and saw the mention of the internet cafe.  On the occasions I went down there it was closed.  There are no opening times shown on the door.

Can anyone tell me if there are regular opening hours or is it just when they feel like opening?

Next time I'll be down the Rose and Thistle as suggested.
