Hi There

Coming over with some friends shortly for a weekends golf and just wondering if anyone has a opinion on what are Global golfs best 3 courses to play as we only have time for 3 games. Any views most welcome.

Paul

Paul,

Condado - is the best course by far.  Everyone who I have spoken to that has played the course says it is the best they have ever played (that includes a pro golfer friend of mine).  This is a must.  A real golfing challenge (bunkers, water, wind, lightning fast greens).

Saurines - the newest course and so facilities are very limited.  No driving range, minimalistic shack for clubhouse.  Desert style course with massively undulating greens (see to believe).

Mar Menor - the oldest of the courses (well the front nine anyway).  Really enjoyed this course.  Great practice facilities.  Top quality clubhouse for post round drink/food.

La Torre - not played but I have been there.  A short course.

El Valle and Hacienda Rqiuelme - have not ventured out to these course yet.  However, I gather from review websites that El Valle is worth a round of golf.

The other option is Hacienda del Alamo, not a Global Golf course, but a very nice course with all expected facilities for pre and post round.

If you need to stick to Global Golf courses, I would play Condado, Mar Menor and El Valle.

Hope this helps.

David

Definately Condado, best by far.
El Valle, close second. It is shorter but just as tricky, views and setting fabulous. Clubhouse second to none.
After that depends on travelling. I prefer Saurines to any other Global course.
Could try new course at Las Colinas, in top 50 in Europe but not played it yet.
Hacienda de Alamo good as any where for low handicappers. Long of the tee and well bunkered greens. Also you get discount via Golf Society (€35 walking). I am over for a month on June 7 and have voucher for HDA for four people and twobuggies €150 (37.50 pp).

So much choice, cannot wait to get back.

Agree with all of the above, especially about the course on Condado - the best I have played.  Hacienda del Alamo is also an enjoyable round and not to far to go (about 20 mins away)

Over the last couple of years, i've also ventured to a few courses further out (up to an hours drive)

Aguilon - well worth a look just for the views!  A course up in the mountains with narrow fairways, and lots of ravines to lose your ball!.  Played it twice in the last two years and its tough (being a high handicapper) but very enjoyable!  The greens weren't as good the second time we visited last Sept but this may have been a one off.  The golf society have recently played this on an away day and I believe they had no complaints!

La Serena.  Enjoyable course with lots of water.  I think there is water involved on 16 of the 18 holes so take plenty of balls !

Altorreal - This is a bit more of a mature course with plenty of trees, so slightly different to the alhama type courses.  Played it two years ago and greens/fairways were in great condition.

Peraleja - a Seve designed course which I played last year.  Fairways seemed to be suffering a bit but maybe this was because it was the end of the Summer in September.  No complaints about the greens though - great condition and v fast.  Clubhouse is impressive.

If you are looking for reasonable green fees, I always use  "clubmurcia" website   (google it as cannot add the website link as don't have enough posts!) as they seem to have offers on most courses.  It also gives you details of each course and plenty of photos.

Whilst I'm on about golf, I'm back out in July and was recommended to play Roda Golf Course by the pro at Hacienda del Alamo.  Looks like a great course on-line and has some good reviews - anyone else played it?

Cheers

Hi Paul

I recently used David Ingman who runs a taxi service on Condado - "Condado Excursions".  Depends on how many of you there are as whether he will need a minibus or car, but I found him cheaper than renting two cars between 6 of us and he was very reliable.  We also had the bonus of not having to worry about who is going to drive and therefore can't drink after finishing golf!

We paid for a return to Alicante airport, return to Hacienda golf, return to Port of Mazarron for a night out, and I think it worked out about £50 each.

For the minibus, I think the return to Hacienda del Alamo is about €50 (ish)

Cheers

Agree with the comments although I have only played 3 of the courses.

Condado is by far the best of the 3 that I played (also El Valle and La Torre).

It has something for all ranges of golfers...with the greens being amazing.

Wouldn't recommend La Torre myself...can't remember the length but seemed very short and not that interesting.

Played Las Colinas 2 wks ago it was fantastic , the service was 2nd to none , free range balls all stacked up in shape of pyramid , free stroke savour and also free water on ice in the buggies own cool box , we paid 38 euros for twilight starting at 4 oclock and only 10 euros for a buggie between 2 , the fairways were like a carpet and greens perfect , the only down side is it takes a good hour to drive there , worth it though
