Legal Working in Spain

Millenium today asked me to produce documentation to prove that I was legally authorised to pursue active working in Spain, this I of course produced to their satisfaction. Beware anyone who maybe not so 'legal' the authorities are watching you!

 

In many ways this is great news but what the hell has it to do wih them, you  are not supplying ant services to them

I had left some business cards in their office, I think they have a downer on English tradesmen at the moment, rightly or wrongley, but they have to respect the legal entitelment of a person to pursue their profession with the correct documentation

I believe that they are concerned that they are not seen to promote any illegal business. Owners need to know who is legal and who operate their business legally, others who run a business on Condado need to be certain they are promoting a legal business, is it not fraud to advertise when you are not legal? Also you can't accept someone's word they are legal . If they openly operate illegally does that not tell you something? There are many on Condado who are illegal and they are from all over Europe. The more is done to protect our resort from the criminal element the safer we will be. We pay for security in a gated community for a reason. Speak out all those who are legal and do others intimidate you.

This thread has made me think, I have used various transfers to and from the resort and not to sure if the driver is paying Tax, (probably not) mainly to reduce my costs.

The question I am asking myself, am I happy for illegal, Tax dodging, benifit frauders to be working illegally in the UK, the answer in NO.

 Do not forget  if you pay an illegal taxi the  No Insurance , if vehicle is British reg then does it have MOT  Insurance for hire etc etc . Suggest you note my number because if Police catch them vehicle will be imponded and you are left at the side of the road.

Why would we use them in Spain? We shouldn't.

I trust all those that rent out their property notify the tax office of their income, if not, these owners are also working illegally and tax dodgers.

It wouldn't take much for the  tax office to look on the internet to find thousands of holiday lets. May be they are doing this.

Thank you Daniels, just like the bars and restaurants there are some who have invested in a business so Condado now has a service that was not there before.

 

What kind of Resort do you want ?  

   We Have been a Legal company on resort for the Past Three and a Half,Years and sometimes struggled to compete with illegal persons on the resort,,Competion is a good thing it keeps us all striving to do our best,but competing with cash in hand merchants is never easy in any country that we operate in,Now that this has come out in the open and the persons working on resort will be investigated,Its been a long time coming but I for one am very Pleased,

I think a distinction has to be made between those running a business in the "black market" outside the tax regime and those doing a couple of oddjobs.  Not sure what the situation is in Spain but someone doing the odd cash job normally would not be in the tax net to start with.  However I do take the point of insurance etc that has been made.

Secondly just because someone has a properly registered business does not mean they are paying all their tax. For every person running a cash business there is possibly one running a legitimate one but cutting the corners and bending the rules.  Especially in the times we find ourselves in now.

And of course all you who are legal and registered and paying all your taxies are ok, that is unless your registered business address is your home on condado as it is not permitted to run a business from you home in condado.

Oh dear now when will the administrator start on that one?

 

 I feel the same way , have turned a blind eye many times to someone taking friends back to airport for petrol money but when someone starts a full scale business with advertising and telling everyone they are a proper business , then openly conduct themselves in an illegal way then enough is enough. This is then s criminal activity and must be stopped before someone comes to harm 

If you advertise your business then you should be legally registerred for that activity , is it not fraud otherwise ?

How do we know- especially if we have signed some paperwork- names, uk address?

Are the keyholders required to inform ML that they are doing/advertising for business- do ML hold all the legitimate Keyholders names?, What about car hire and airport transfer:- as someone on FB said as he had apartment clients he was entiteled to collect and drop them at the airport?

Are there repecussions for people who use trades who do not pay tax? I've only worked as an employee for companies (big and small) so don't know how this works
