Hi all I am a customer with Bankia (previously banc caja) in San Javier. I have received notification today that the branch is closing and I need to go to the branch to sort my account closure. Does anyone have good recommendations of other nearby English speaking banks and also how easy is it to rearrange direct debits etc for my water / electric and community fees. Thanks Jenna

Hi milstream The letter states that the branch is closing not the bank. It instructs to go to the branch asap to take care of the necessary procedures regarding your contact. Are you aware of the next nearest bankia branch? Jenna

There's a branch in Torre Pacheco with an ATM closer to TLT & lots of easy parking. The staff speak english & are helpful so we have used them more than the San Javier branch.

Hi
I have received two letters from Bankia regarding the closure of my branch of Bankia in Torre Pacheco (4889) I have e mailed staff at the branch and todate got no reply.
Today I have posted a letter to Mr Pedro Luis Gomez Garcia, in Bankia Bank Paseo de la Castellana 189 28046 Madrid Spain ( He is the writer of letters telling of closures)
I will let you know when I get a reply.
Since we are not in Spain for several months can we deal withis change of contract/new branch via e mail or post?

Hi All
I was in spain on monday, i went to the bankia branch in caratgena, i was told there was no need to go to the branch.
It is only the branch shutting, they will inform you of where your new branch will be, there is no need to do anything.
Hope this helps.

Hi I went to the bankia branch in torre Pacheco. I spoke to benito(bank manager) and he told me that the branch is closing next month. The nearest branch will be in murcia city centre.

Just a warning to all who are looking to change banks for what ever reason. Make sure your latest utilities direct debits have been paid and ensure a new direct debit is set up in plenty of time for the next payment. We know of people that have closed bank accounts and open up a new one and the Direct debits have been set up and paying the utilities when required, then suddenly they have had the meters removed and it transcribes the old bank was closed just as the direct debits were due and the new bank did not set up the payments in time. Unlike the UK if a DD is returned un-paid they will not re-apply for payment 15 days later and they will not think 'we are getting paymants from a different bank account so collect the missed payment from that'. If you have your meter removed you have to pay a re-connection charge and set up a new contract. A world of pain.
