Hello

I have an apartment in block 4:14 that I visited recently. I noticed that some activity is going on with respect to the external walls etc being painted. Does anyone know exactly what will be painted, i.e. will the painters access my balcony and paint those walls or is it just the external back and front walls?

Thanks

Andrew

There was a notice on the community website saying that they would be painting the inside of the balconies also as the painting was to include all of the structures (i.e including the balcony walls) and that they would attempt to contact you to arrange permission to do your patio, but if they couldn't get hold of you they would be doing it anyway.

They are midway through block 2 (I think it is block 2, the white block right in front of you at the bottom of the hill. They painted half the block a couple of weeks back, but haven't finished it yet. They haven't started on ours which is block 3 yet either.

There was something about the planters also, although it didn't translate very well so I'm not sure if it was telling us to empty all of the planters, or just to remove any valuable plants in case they were damaged, as they would not be taking responsibility.

With regard to the planters they will be requesting that you remove the earth from the planters so they can be painted. The engineers report also recommended that owners don't put earth back into the planters but fill them with stones and then use plant pots. Something to do with the fact that the earth in the planters makes any problems with micro fissures in the structure worse and this has to be repaired before any paint can be added. If the micro fissures aren't repaired then the paint will not last.

If anyone wants a copy of my notes from the AGM discussing this please email me at duquesavillage@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks

Daniela
