Last time I saw them they were in a terrible state. Someone no doubt decided the Community couldn't afford to maintain them. And what would it cost ? Maybe one euro per property per month ? And now the kids have nowhere to play football and when they kick a ball in the gardens there are howls of complaints (and yes they shouldn't) but is not maintaining them shortsighted or not ? And some people will say "well I don't want to play football so why should I pay for it in my CC charge" ? It's just crazy - why put a football pitch in in the first place and then not maintain it, it's a bit like not painting the facades. The next thing will be "we can't afford to put water in the swimming pools or have the bins emptied". This is a community with community facilities. If we continually penny-pinch then Condado becomes less appealing and unattractive. Certainly manage the budget but dont do daft things. jmho.

Football isnt my strong point...but is there not a football pitch combined with the netball/ basketball court at Condado Club, or why has it got goals at either end?? This is where I see the Spanish playing football! Also, is the football pitch between Al Kasar and J13 not owned by IRM ( the same company who own the golf course)???? If so, it has absolutely nothing to do with our CCs!!!

I think the main point being highlighted here is that the football pitches and the Golf course and all the other facilities we bought into make the complex a resort. If you allow them to fail we become an urbanisation and then watch the value of your property fall! We all bought into this idea of having these facilities onsite which would be funded by CC's and I thought for one that it was agreed last year that the football pitches would be restored in some fashion and maintained by ML on our behalf for the benefit of all. This would have allowed the kids access to a pitch without charges. The sports club is a private concern which charges for access and It is great that the sports club is up and running successfully but this is still a private concern. The one I would be really concerned about is the golf course. we are linked to its success whether we like it or not and currently there is a lot of bad press around the state of the lakes and course in general. It is hard to believe that we ( ML) are not fighting harder with IRM to ensure that these standards that make our complex a resort are maintained on the course as well, as we are both linked in some way to its success. At least I can’t see anything in the recent minutes to suggest otherwise but I may be wrong. I know a lot of people don’t want any increase in the CC’s to help with these facilitates but the stranglehold by IRM will in the end damage the overall value of your investment if we can’t get them to buy into the vision of Condado……

I completely agree. I am a new owner (12 months) and I have heard various stories about what the resort SHOULD have looked like etc and how it was meant to be and how its never really panned out.
I have 2 young boys who love to play football and the football pitches would be a great place to to take them but like many others the only place I can play with them is in the gardens. I would be happy to make a small additional contribution (as part of the whole resort doing the same) to get these maintained.
There must be someway of getting this done. The common thought here is that ultimately it adds to the appeal of our resort, in return bringing in more revenue and owners, whether you are a fan of football or not.

Like the golf course and sports facilities, I believe the football pitches should be a private concern. A charge made for their use and the money made from these charges would hopefully cover the upkeep costs.
That way, the people who dont use the pitches dont have to pay. Cant see them being used by a couple I know who are both in their 70's.

definition of community - the people living in one particular area or people who are considered as a unit because of their common interests, social group,
If, as a community, we cherry pick on which communtity facilities should or should not be maintained to a high standard we are lost.
Lots of people don't swim or go in the pools, so why bother paying to have them maintained ?
Thank goodness for those entrepeneurs on Condado that have opened private businesses and provide a wonderful base for us all to enjoy and every success to everyone of them.
All I'm saying is, that when you spread the cost across all the properties (and albeit those that are good citizens and pay the CC's), it doesn't amount to a hill of beans to keep Condado looking great and providing fantastic facilities for all.Otherwise Darren you end up with a half empty glass as you well know !

I hear what you say JEB, everything should be spread throughout the community and then we all have access to all the facilities like the pools.
Howevever this has not happened, Although the pools are free, the squash courts are not. Although the childrens parks are free, there is a charge for Paddle Tennis etc.
Things owned by the community should be free to use by all and funded by the CC. Things not owned by the community (the Sports Zone, the Golf Course, The football pitches, Al Kazar) should be run as a private business. In my eyes at least.
Otherwise where do you draw the line, IRM own the pitches & The Golf Course, if the community pays to maintain the pitches, then there would be an arguement that the community should pay to refill the lakes on the golf course. I dont agree in one rule for one (the footballers) and one rule for another (the golfers).
Things owned by the community should be maintained by the community, things owned by private business should be funded by those business'.

come on Darren, let's be realistic there is a smidgeon of difference between the golf course and the football pitch. I'm being pragmatic and for those people with kids think of the money they'll save not having to pay to use the other facilities (oh I can already hear the chorus from those that don't have kids and grand-kids !). Let's have some commonsense and foresight about this and for what would be very little cost restore a facility that can be used for footy, cricket, rounders, any sort of activity that gives the kids a chance to run around in a safe environment and where they won't get in the way of people enjoying the sun and pools in the gardens. I do despair sometimes.

Think we will have to agree to disagree on this one JEB, maybe if I had kids or grandkids I would think like you, just not sure of the legal implaications of accessing and spending money on something we dont own.
So are you also unhappy that the Paddle Tennis and Squash courts are chargable?

So you are happy to pay for squash and Paddle tennis, but not football.
Can you explain your logic?

I think there are good points from both sides here and can see why each is right. That said, no matter what the right way to go is, private or community, how does this actually get voted on or put into practice?

Get the football pitches fixed for the people to enjoy and the kids somewhere to play the national game
and not have to play on the road where so many grown ups , drive home from the pub after only having 5 pints (day time) night time 10 pints or 10 pints in apartment then drive up the pub
may be could turn one picth into a park . picth / park v dead kid
should of done this instead of paying for the crap internet
