Maybe if they were all fighting playing nicely on the football pitches then the little brats lovely children (they are our future, just like garlic bread) wouldn't be shining laser pens at Victor Meldrew you

It's probably false economy not to fund the football pitches as the number of trees & lights that I have witnessed being broken by kids playing football on the Jardins surely outways the cost of maintaining the football pitches Mind you it says a lot about the English game as the Spanish kids seem to be able to kick a ball and avoid hitting inanimate objects !

Another good point Waddle. When the pitch was in good shape you got kids of all gender and nationalities going there to spend hours on end having a kick about, a bit of fun and getting to know eachother. That alone is worth the small cost of doing it. Sadly not a lot of common sense seems to go into these decisions.

The football pitch was a place that the kids could meet and all nationalities played together. My son loves football and has been learning Spanish so it would have been ideal this Summer .... I thought it had been agreed that the pitch would be maintained :-(

This issue has been a major problem for three years. We were getting somewhere with this just over a year ago and the community at the time did have responsibility for it. Milenium put together a package with the then garden contractors to bring them back and things were just about to start when "apparently" they were sold. I'm not sure who bought them but you guys are saying its IRM and if that's the case it's bad news because they aren't even looking after the golf course properly and ultimately we're a golf resort!!
We started this petition in nov 2011 and have got a load of signatures on it. I was happy to give it to Milenium when the community had control but maybe we should revive it especially as there are so many new owners out there now?? We could then give it to the "owners" and a copy to alhama council to see if we can mix it up a bit. Don't forget a Spanish lad last year had a very heavy fall playing football on the hard court and broke his collar bond as a consequence. We need the pitches for many reasons but safety has to be a concern.
To sign the petition if you haven't already please go here

Finally if we could get this moving forward somehow I'm sure between a few of us we could raise some sponsorship from both local and even UK based businesses??
Cheers
Jay

I know the situation is bleak out there on a lot of fronts but if we could at least have some dialougue with "whoever" is actully owning the land currently there may be some scope on whats is what. I think I'm right that Phil Tann had some conversations with the former garden contractors and had part help set something up via M L at the time that was heading in the right direction. Then.....NOTHING because apparently it's not community land anymore as someone had "bought it"!!!!!
I think we could do something between us either volunatarily aided or supported/sponsored. Thats my view.

Regarding sponsorship...could we sell advertising space (banners) to raise the money?? How much will it cost to fix them? The Spanish seem to use the court at the Condado Club...who would actually use the pitches if fixed? Im in N5 so both pitches would be too far for any kids to use without parents going too! Curious as to what expense maintaining these will incur and exactly who will genuinely use them! At the end of the day we will be maintaining something owned by IRM....perhaps the parents who feel their kids will use them could do a fundraiser and the rest of us will support! This would be preferable to money being added on to CCs for a football pitch which is owned by IRM. What if the pitch is renovated using funds raised by concerned oarents and IM then put padlock on and charge a fee to use???

What about organising a fund where generous and forward thinking people who think its an important addition to Condado De Alhama to have 2 or 3 grass pitches and employ a groundsman if there's enough funds raised to pay him a salary and buy basic equipment, or is that a naive suggestion as it'd take a few people to work the fund gathering and distribution etc.? The same could be maybe be suggested with the golf course for funds to cut the 2nd cut of rough and fill the lakes. I'm only out to the apartment one weekend a year but I would donate to both of these funds as I want it to be in good condition when I do go and wonder how many others would donate?

Geoff all this stuff about funds and sponsorship etc are great ideas in theory but would never get off the ground. Perhaps what we could do is ask our Presidents' to find out exactly just how much it would add to the CC charge if we asked ML (via IRM) to restore something that would a tremendous community facility to its former half decent condition (it doesn't need to be wembley). Then as a community we could vote on it - I'd do the same for painting the facades but for me that is such a no brainer it should already be in the CC. If enough people make enquiries through our Presidents' then maybe it will get a hearing - or maybe am I being the naive one ?

No Jeb, I support this thinking and I'm sure anyone who bought into the original blue prints of everything on Condado De Alhamas original design and ideas of how our community should be,then I believe it's Soo important to fight to make our community the best we can make it, even at the cost of an extra €5 or €7 a month for every forward thinking resident for 3-5 years, to help give our community a vital life line and give it a better chance to get people attracted to coming to stay and play golf and stay on CDA and more imoportantly, return annually to rent properties.
i think contacting each individual Jardin President is the least we can do to enquire how much extra it costs to maintain a couple of grass pitches,(and/or cut the 2nd cut of rough on the Nicklaus Signature Course) or list here every Jardin Presidents email and\or mobile tel. number to email and/or call them and\or text them to tell them to ask ML how much this would cost?
I would personally give €200 to help print leaflets to be put under every apartments door to inform everyone of their jardin presidents email and\or tel: numbers to insist they ask ML [via IRM] how much these simple tasks would cost and then vote on it.
We are not gonna get what what we bought into right now for the price we agreed, but for a little bit more every month for a few years, until possible financial recovery of some degree, we can, and should try to make CDA the best we possibly can, even at a bit of anextra monthly expense.
Condado De Alhama isn't only a name, it's way of life!
PS. I would also fly over from the UK for a few days to personally deliver these leaflets to every apartment on CDA because I feel so strongly about fighting for our community.

I have to say Geoff that is bang on! If only everybody else felt the same. Its key to start getting these things done, and as you say not immediately but gradually over a period of time. The resort is a far cry from how it was originally sold to people and is in danger of going the wrong way unless the community step up to help put it straight.
Obviously with the pitches not being owned by the community now it does make it a little more difficult to find a resolution, but that said, whoever does actually own them now, they are not covering their costs or making any money so it wouldnt surprise me there is some sort of deal/arrangement to be done. Unfortunately I dont know where to start, but I am happy to help out where I can.

I'm sure everybody wouldn't be interested in donating money to help pay for these couple of things, but I'm sure some people would be more than happy to donate substantial amounts if they can afford it and maybe even put collection boxes into the bars and restaurants around CDA. I know these suggestions are not ideal but the situation we are in is not ideal also and we can't sit around just watching CDA deteriorate before our eyes without putting up a fight. There's already 3 offers from 3 obviously good people, Jay, Ron & Sibecks, who are willing to actively put up a fight to improve CDA and I'm sure ther are many many more and if its money that's the only issue, then in my opinion we should make an effort to try and raise some. I'm sure there are a lot of generous people and if others are not able to donate much I'm sure some will be more than happy to give their time to help raising some etc.. Does anyone have the list of Jardin presidents email addresses and we can start by emailing them with suggestions & more importantly, our intentions to help put CDA back to going in the right direction. And as I said, informing everyone of relavent email addresses and delivering leaflets to every property and post box on CDA about possible ways to improve CDA. Even if fund raising failed and our suggestions weren't possible to fulfill, is it still not right that we try improving the community?

We aren't out there very often but the football pitches were a major reason for us to buy on Condado so if we can help in anyway let us know ...
