We will need to think about installing Air Con. I would want it to be able to provide heating as well as cooling for visits in the colder months. Has any one got any recommendations re installers, output of unit required, type of unit, manufacturer, etc. I have no knowledge of this type of equipment at all and would rather go with a good recommendation than just take someone because of a good advert. I know that MLH originally recommended a firm however our experiences with MLH have left me feeling suspicious of anything they have been involved in. I may be being unfair to a perfectly reputable business and if anyone has had satisfactory dealings with them then please do not hesitate to say

Thanks in anticipation.

There is a guy called Steve Garrott who offers various services on site including Aircon. He has done work for me and others and his work is excellent.

The aircon unit he has put in for various people is a Fujitsu with hot and cold and humidifier properties and the cost is 2,100 euro's fitted. If you PM Pepsi i know he has had one fitted and he could give you a more detailed response.

I actually had the Daiken fitted before i knew steve was fitting the aircon but it works fine.

Steve also does: Roller shutters, utilty windows, breakfast bars, painting & decorating etc, etc. His number is 0034 670 885 219

Nigel Kitt at Coolfactor did our hot/cold air con and we're really pleased with it - cost 2544 euros for Fujitsu General. Send PM if you need more info.

Steve Garrott (paintbusters) did our painting & utility screens - excellent work, very quick and tidy.

Have just returned from CSD so will put some photos on soon.

Regards,

Andrew & Jane

I should also have mentioned RNA Home Decor (Estepona), they've done an excellent job with the curtains and bathroom accessories, and were very patient given the number of times I changed my mind!

We have also used Steve Garrott for fitting roller shutters etc and he is really helpful and his work is excellent. He also helped source our air con, a Fujitsu model at a cost of 2,100 Euros, with a three-year guarantee. The air con company were excellent, they dropped everything to install ours as soon as possible as we were already out and the weather was awful.

We would definately recommend both Steve and the air con company

We have not yet had air con fitted, although I met with and have had a quote from Nigel Kitt at Cool Factor last week. Having just spent 12 days on site in someone else's apartment, my advice would be to get air con that includes a dehumidifier. We had lots of rain while we were there and the whole place took on an air of dampness. Drying clothes, etc is impossible if there's no sun, due to the humidity. If the apartments are used in the winter, this will be an issue. Also we have friends who own on another site which is 8 years old and they say linen etc has a tendency to go mouldy in the winter if left for too long.

I was lucky in having 'Steve Garrot' from paintbusters doing all the painting as the appartment now looks far warmer than the stark white of other flats.  Steve is someone you can trust & put me in touch with a guy who did the aircon with heater & humidifier.  It works a treat with the flat ending up warm as toast when I was over there during the rain over March/April period. Fitted 2,000 Euros

In fact Steve introduced me to quite a few work people who have done my showers etc who are reliable - so for me he was a very invaluble find, even though he is a liverpool supporter.

I was put in touch with him by other owners & I would like to thank them for the contact. If you need his details just give me an e-mail or you can google 'paintbusters'

Thanks everyone for your responses to my request for air con info. One thing which seems to be emerging from all the messages is the general satisfaction with quality of work and fairness of charging from tradesmen in the costas. This seems to give the lie to the common misconception that everyone working out there is out to fleece you. I have also been pleased with the work I have had done so far. Either we have all been lucky or there are some quite decent people who pride themselves on a professional job and work on recommendations from satisfied customers.

If only a certain building firm would have had the same level of morals and desire for customer satisfaction!!
