Air Con

 Hi,

has anyone had their main external circuit board replaced for their air con on a 2 bed apt? If so could you give an indication of cost of repair in parts?

I had my complete aircon replaced last year, at a cost of around 2500 euro, I fear if you replace only part of it, then the rest will bread down soon after.

it depends on the manufacturer and the error code that you are getting, but if it is the control board in the compressor, supply and fit you are looking at around €400 supply and fit and we have had a number of these replaced, damage which normally comes from power surges, have had LG, Sanyo and Fujitsu units repaired

Nowadays the cost of supply of AC units has reduced dramatically a decent LG or Fujitsu unit at 6000 for a vented system, trpical 2 bed, costs nearer €1700 fitted but I would suggest get the unit looked at first by a decent engineer which coosts nothing

The circuit board for our control box in the lounge broke and we were quoted €100 by one guy to replace.

So we took it apart, and took the circuit board to the aircon shop in the Arches/Oasis complex. He got us a whole new control unit for about €40 and we fitted it ourselves.

So I would deffo give him a try. He's Spanish but speaks some English.
Also speak to Roman of R&M services on site. They have lots of contacts and charge sensible prices.

Do NOT use an English engineer - you will be right royally ripped off.

We had a problem with our electric shutter on the lounge at the start ofthe season. English tradesman quoted us €600 for a whole new shutter. Roman replaced the top 3 slats and added 2 new one to sort out the real reason we were having problems (it was too short). €50 fitted! And it has worked beautifully all year including having renters manhandling it!
