I too started to lose the will to live Jane when reading that article. It's all about political posturing for the elections that are taking place next May in spain. But you are right it has serious consequence for us as owners.
Mind you - over half our visitors this year chose to fly to Alicante and drive to Roda as prices were considerably cheaper - especially when it involves a family of 4 on a tight budget.
Fonz - love the flying pig. But there is no way it could be ready for April 2015. There is at least a 2 month delay in Brussels and then another 6 months work to do to actually finish the airport and get all the right permits and then get schedules agreed with airlines.
Add to this that the way in which air permits are being issued changes from January 2015 - it will probably mean further delays.
It might open later in 2015 but quite honestly I really don't think it will ever open and will go the way of the airport at Castellon which has never had a single flight into it and the runway now gets used for illegal car racing
. . . and Ciudad Real is another that opened and closed pretty quickly as no-one wanted to fly there
