Hi Gill

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your husband and your ill health. I'm not surprised, this case is causing so much stress to so many people.

You would think that someone in a higher position in the legal system ( european courts) could make a decision and sort out this mess. Broph was right, there are too many inconsistencies when everyone is in the same boat.

At least we got some money back, although it doesn't cover the deposit, so I hope you hear something soon.

Hope you feel better soon

Joyjo

If the inconsistencies were sorted out it wouldn't cause so much pain to innocent people caught up in this mess. It's shameful like being trapped in an ongoing nightmare. Shame on all involved in the spanish justice system. Never mind it's August soon and they can all have a month off.

It's awful isn't it Chrissie and Gill,  life being on hold like this, We are like you really could not afford to lose this kind of money, which is why we did checks and were told it was all covered with a bank guarantee so we could never ever lose our money!!!! I do believe that the lawyers obviously are governed by the court system, however they could make this journey a bit easier for us.. but it's a job for them, not their life, they do not live it every day, I used equity in my home to pay for this I will never ever be able to have that kind of equity again, never ever be able to have the last decade of my life back either, that has been dominated by this nightmare..I can't have a holiday home in the sun any more, or a pension fund or anything to fall back on, but it's just a job for them..

This is a journey we have been on... from A to B.. from starting this court process to actually getting money in our bank account,  and the inbetween part of this journey is really important... we need information in a manner that we can understand as we are not lawyers.. we need prompt replies that are sincere and personal rather than generic "we will reply in ......days" etc.. then the standard... "as soon as we hear from the court we will inform you", we need to be treated like people not numbers... as you say there are so many inconsistencies there is no formula no one size fits all that all lawyers and clients are following so how are we supposed to know what is happening..it seems like everyone is making it up as they go along,  the lawyers are getting a lot of money for this, and so they should.. there is a lot involved.. however this is our money, this was always our money.. it is money that we have earned ourselves over a long period of time and no builder or bank should ever have taken it from us in the first place without giving us anything in return, we have a right to get it back..i appreciate the help of my lawyer to get this back for us, but yes this does leave a bad taste in my mouth,  it's no lottery win, I have just received what is mine in the first place, but have had to give over 20% of it up in fees, so definately no jumping for joy going on in this household...my advice to lawyers is pretend that you care, even if you don't it might make it a little easier for us, don't we deserve that....sad

Hi my friend. You are absolutely spot on. I've had exactly the same experience but with nothing to show for it. Being passed from pillar to post when my questions get too direct. I have asked how much i will have to pay having already paid 8,000€. Now an invoice is going to be prepared which could take weeks because "they are too busy". I bet when our money comes through it will be very quickly divided into what ever bits are decided on that day. We are honest folks and i expect to be treated with respect but i feel i am a sitting duck. Worked hard all our lives and like you a decade has passed and our dreams are shattered. Feeling trapped and have anxiety issues because of it. The whole thing sucks.

There must be hundreds of people like us who have not caused problems and just waited and waited well I'm fed up now and it's called a forum so that's what I'm doing talking about my experience. Good luck to all who are in this un asked for mess. Shame on them all for treating us so badly.

The stock answer is that the courts are too busy with all the work they have on.

so, if there is too much work in civil courts there is too much crime, corruption and false promises by comanies and individuals who use the civil courts as a shield for their own protection.

The legal profession have to ask how they can stop this, not just put up with it.  All civil matters should be charged on a small deposit and then the final fee paid on conclusion.  The lawyers would speed the courts up before we even knew it was happening!!

We fully understand and empathise with all your concerns and anguish. We are continuedly reviewing processes and trying to obtain the faster results fo you but... there are facts that are far beyond our area of influence, such as Courts workload and speed. We wish we could change that

Maria.

Don't want your empathies just want to have what is mine. It's not good enough and indeed you have a lot to put right which is well within your reach and power. I listened to the same thing more than 11 years ago and it's got no better and no clearer. I think it is shameful of all of you what is going on and you simply have no idea what it's like.
