On the original specification sheet we were given when we reserved last year, it did say that there is an italian restaurant in the village.
Can anyone enlighten us to whereabouts this is as we would like to try it out? In fact if anyone has visited it we would love to hear what it's like.
We have noticed a couple of bars, but as yet haven't had time to visit them? Does anyone know if any of them serve food? Would be nice if there are places within walking distance.
We did go in the bakers a couple of times last time we were out there & thespanish lady in there was so pleasant & helpful. I could imagine putting on a lot of weight with too many visits though as the cakes look very tempting.
We also went to the indian restaurant on the industrial estate at Balsicas which was really nice. They also do a takeaway service which could be quite useful.

Hi Sue
We have seen the Italian restaurant when we visited last August - um ......it doesn't look like a restaurant more like a bit of a run down bar - we never ate there so I can't say what the food / service was like. you probably walked right pass it without knowing ! I think it would definately be a trip into the unknown !!!
As for the cake shop - yes the lady in there was very nice and very understanding - especially when I tried to ask for two cokes in bad spanish - and she presented me with two loaves of bread.
I'm really looking forward to the experience of living in San Cayetano - so as always - roll on 2008

Hi Sue,
We've visited Bar Lozano (that's the one on the corner as you walk into the village) several times for lunch. They usually have a good selection of tapas available at very reasonable prices. The downside is that all the site workers go there for lunch, and it is often crowded, smoky, and very noisy, but after 2 o'clock it seems to be less busy. However, it is a very typical Spanish bar.
I have the impression that the bar is closed during the evening, but I may be wrong on that.

Hi Sue & David,
You will find Liz & Vince have tried most if not all of the bars/restaurants in the Town. We went with them to the bar right at the end of the town ('fraid I cant remember it's name but it was past the noisy one that looked a bit 'Fred Flintstone'ish') it was very Spanish, and quite friendly, and although we didn't eat anything (just sampled the local wine) seemed very good value. We were assured by Liz & Vince that the food is actually very good there, and there were lots of what looked like locals eating enormous meals including Octopus which they were just snipping the tentacles off with scissors before serving them up...
Regards,
Les & Frances

Hi All
Thanks for the info. Think we'll just have to go for it !!!!!!
Don't fancy the octopus though!!!!!
We probably have walked past the italian restaurant by the sounds of it, June. I thought perhaps it was hidden down some of the back streets like the tabac someone on site had just found last time we were out there.
Any restaurants anyone can recommend? We have been to several in Los Alcazares which have been very good & an excellent one for lunch on the beach at El Mojon. We even ventured to Fuente Alamo one Sunday to meet friends & had an excellent meal in a very Spanish restaurant.

Hi Sue
We went to Diva in Los Alcazares a couple of weeks ago. It's in the liitle area with banks etc opposite el patio. This was very good. Also went to a lovely Italian restuarant in Pillar dela Horadado - opposite the apartments on the beach. Can't remember the name but it's on the corner of the road leading to the beach. Lots of spanisheating there, which is always a good sign, Food was excellent and very reasonable ( compared to UK anyway), also a good chinese in Pillar, in the restaurant area by the beach, called the Emporer - or similar- the food was very fresh and excellent. They gave us a bottle of wine to take home, as it was our first visit.

Hi Les & Frances & Karen
Thanks for the info.
We'll try Pilar on our next visit Karen. We still haven't managed to track down any Pimms despite looking in several supermarkets - you'll have to let us know if you find any!!!
We tried Bayside at easter after your recommendation Les & Frances - it is very good & really buzzy in there.
Apparently the italian restaurant in San Cayetano is not built yet so that's probably why we have not found it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best Wishes Sue & David
