Hi everyone

We have just returned from Roda on our try before you buy. We visited the beach club. The swimming pool is insitu but empty. The building looks near ready. The site just needs tidying up as workmen were still there. There is obviously a lot of landscaping to be done but its looking good. Just for interest: Roda are running a shuttle bus which (we have been told) will run to one of the marinas where we will transfer to a boat which will take us to a marina on the La Manga Strip then another shuttle bus to the beach club. There will be a charge for the boat of approx 3 to 4 euros. It is true that Covera will not be able to use the beach club as 50% of the Spanish have bought on Roda and most will use these facilities at week ends and holidays.  The sea (Mediterranean) around the beach looks very safe as the rocks about 400mtrs out form a natural water break. It looks like a mini Mar Menor. I have taken some photos but don't know how to e-mail them. My 10 year old grand daughter has promised to show me how to do it!      We loved Roda and are going to purchase on phase 4.   Phase 5 will be 5% more than phase 4.  We have paid 297,400 euros for a corner ground floor 3 bed apartment on 4. Should give you early purchasers an idea of the price of your properties at this time.

We visited the beach club last week which is at last open. We were impressed and looked after very well by the staff who provided us with towels on arrival and served us at the pool area with drinks etc.

We also ate in the Bar/restaurant and found the food to be very good, the 2 bar men were very friendly and helpful. They informed us that no more of the building will be opened up this year but the rest should be opened up by next year.

Visited the beach club on 7 August 2007 and was very impressed

Like the last messenger - I was impressed with the three staff on site who were very attentive - but there were only about a dozen people there at the time we visited ( the staff said they were only averaging 15 - 20 per day in the first week since opening )

The staff told me that you need to reserve your place at Customer Services in RODA , because there is a restriction of 50 people per day at the beach club. That number seems about right to me for the size of the place , but abviously requires holidaymakers to plan ahead a little in terms of when they want to visit

The pool is not massive , but it is very nice and there is a decent sized Jacuzzi section to enjoy

The sea is great - The 100 metres or so to the beakwater is only a couple of feet deep and the bed is layered in seaweed - but beyond the breakwater is lots of quite good snorkeling conditions - Tip : Take a face mask and also some waterproof ( plastic ) shoes as the rocks at the breakwater were not that easy to walk on

Also - the beach is also treated as a nudist area by some neighbours - there was only one guy strutting his stuff when we were there - but that can be quite a shock if you are not expecting it !

We went by car , because the current restrictive ferry times did not suit us and the ferry cost of EURO 10 per head for 5 of us felt a bit steep - but careful if you take that option as we were caught in a traffic jam as we approached the south end of the La Manga strip , and that added more than 30 minutes to the journey time

It would be preferable if RODA organise some transport from the front entrance of the resort for next summer rathe than having to take your car to a port 15 minutes up the cost

I understand that the beach club will close on September 30 2007 , to allow continuation of the building work , and will not re-open until June 2008 when all the planned facilities should be open
