Visited the beach club on 7 August 2007 and was very impressed
Like the last messenger - I was impressed with the three staff on site who were very attentive - but there were only about a dozen people there at the time we visited ( the staff said they were only averaging 15 - 20 per day in the first week since opening )
The staff told me that you need to reserve your place at Customer Services in RODA , because there is a restriction of 50 people per day at the beach club. That number seems about right to me for the size of the place , but abviously requires holidaymakers to plan ahead a little in terms of when they want to visit
The pool is not massive , but it is very nice and there is a decent sized Jacuzzi section to enjoy
The sea is great - The 100 metres or so to the beakwater is only a couple of feet deep and the bed is layered in seaweed - but beyond the breakwater is lots of quite good snorkeling conditions - Tip : Take a face mask and also some waterproof ( plastic ) shoes as the rocks at the breakwater were not that easy to walk on
Also - the beach is also treated as a nudist area by some neighbours - there was only one guy strutting his stuff when we were there - but that can be quite a shock if you are not expecting it !
We went by car , because the current restrictive ferry times did not suit us and the ferry cost of EURO 10 per head for 5 of us felt a bit steep - but careful if you take that option as we were caught in a traffic jam as we approached the south end of the La Manga strip , and that added more than 30 minutes to the journey time
It would be preferable if RODA organise some transport from the front entrance of the resort for next summer rathe than having to take your car to a port 15 minutes up the cost
I understand that the beach club will close on September 30 2007 , to allow continuation of the building work , and will not re-open until June 2008 when all the planned facilities should be open
