The problem is that this smacks of yet more corruption. Already this Mayor has made various developers use his company for elecritical works and now he is forcing Gerens into using his people for the road works. The elections are on Sunday and lets hope he is voted out. If he is not I can see this impasse rolling on for some time yet!

I received the letter and called the customer support number. Was told the english speakers will start work Monday..........looks like they will be busy. If you have not got your letter yet the number is 34-902 23 22 44
We should give them the benefit of doubt first and see if they really are serious about customer service

WE havnt recieved anything either .I think it depends who you bought through ,we dealt with Arenal directly.Saying that we have never had any mail at all from anybody regarding this fiasco,but we are going to stick at it they willnot grind me down that easily.

I have received a letter, if you can call it that. It obviously has been translated into English by a total idiot as you can barely understand it.
It is a very poor translation and I only hope that this peice of poor material does not have any reflection on our apartments.

For those of you who are interested in what was in the letter yesterday, I have copied it below for you, I have typed it exactly as it is written.
We are pleasing to put in contact with you to inform that The Group Of Companies CAJASUR has recently extended its participation in the ARENAL SUR 21, so that assure the total control of the company.
New ARENAL SUR 21, with its new composition, assumes the responsibility to manage, to finalize and to give you the propriety acquired by you.
The group of Companies grupo de empresas CAJASUR counts to pilot the new project with the collaboration of the society GERENS MANAGEMENT GROUP that represents the greater independent professional group of the Spanish market completely dedicated to the control and management of investments in construction projects.
Between the first actions developed by GERENS it is the beginning of a Center of Attention to the Client, where you will be able to know and to express everything waht you need and wish. So there it is, I have copy typed it as it is written in the letter. I am actually amazed that the letter even reached me as the address and the title are wrong. They only correctly written part of the address they had was my post code.

I am going out next week. Does anybody know if it is possible to see the apartments? Or is it a waste of time to even go there?
MRI sold me the apt. Do they have access to the development? I was daft enough to pay for the aftersales package which has turned out to be a waste of good cash.
ANY info would be greatly appreciated.

Speak to your contact at MRI and see what they can do. We visited a couple of months ago and were taken round but that was in the days of Paul Cox. If I were you I would INSIST!.

I insisted when i was there with my elderly father, and we were shown the door!!
They didnt understand English it seems , so i got them to phone my wife back home who teaches Spanish!
They still woulldnt help as it was their lunch time!...........something to hide, me thinks.

Hi All,
We have recently joined the message board and have been catching up with everyone else's experience of waiting for information on completion. Sadly, no more positive than our own experiences. We had a look at our apartment back in January, which although covered in thick layer of dust, only needed a door knob, electricity and water to be habitable. Oh, and a habitiation licence.....
We were wondering where we stand if any of our nice shiny new appliances break down after a few months, as they will have been sitting there unused for a year before we get to use them. Especially the washing machine sitting outside in all weathers.

i'm going out in about 10 days and have already contacted lawyer and mri. they said they can't get us access but believe me, i will be getting access. i'm taking my paperwork, i'm going to tell them that i am seeing my lawyer whilst there and unless i see the apt i will be cancelling in june (i won't but they don't know). i am sure we will gain access. i speak a little spanish so will try my very best to get my message across to them. anyone out there whilst i am there 8-16 june i would love to meet up with for a drink and maybe go mob handed to the development!! ha.
i must say that although it isn't really funny i was almost in tears laughing at that letter received by some of you. how funny was that!!. can you just see somebody in their office saying "oh, i speak a little english, i'll translate it and we can post it out to the clients". The bosses were probably all saying "great, it will save some money so you do it and we'll send it out". if only they knew just how bad it was.
i just hope its no reflection on the apts, but i'm sure its not. we'll be all happy as pigs in **** soon and the wait will be worth it.

PROPERTY PURCHASE IN SPAIN – ARENAL DUQUESA FASE I
Further to our meeting with Gerens on 24 May 2007, who are the company responsible for managing the projects of Arenal Sur 21. S.A, we are writing to update you on the points that were discussed during the meeting.
Company Name
In order to rectify past mistakes, Arenal Sur 21, S.A. will change its name and will now be known as Promociones Inmobiliarias Prienesur. This name change will in no way exonerate them from their contractual obligations.
In addition, and in order to continue and complete the building works, the construction company will also change. Gerens will confirm the new builders company shortly.
Licence of First Occupation
Gerens have informed us that the Licence of First Occupation will soon be granted by the Town Hall, possibly by the end of June. The promoter only needs to complete several minor works on one of the roads on the outside of the complex.
Solutions/Cancellations
Although Gerens are keen to fulfill their duties, they have confirmed that they will refund the monies of any buyer who wishes to cancel his contract. They have also confirmed that this subject will be discussed in more detail with the committee of Arenal Sur 21, S.A. at a meeting that will take place in the next couple of weeks. Following this meeting, we will be in a better position to advise you of how to proceed.
In order to speed things up and reach a satisfactory conclusion we have given Gerens a list of all our clients and their intentions relating to their specific situation and purchase.
We are satisfied that our meeting has established a good communication link between ourselves and Gerens and are confident that in the future we will be kept well informed of any developments.
