I came home on Tuesday (yesterday) after a short stay.

Someone was getting furniture delivered on Monday to one of the floors above.

On Tuesday morning I noticed that in many (say a dozen) places on the stair case paint was chipped away and in some places small lumps of render were knocked off too.

In addition a few wall lamp cover had been knocked in to a diagonal position - which makes me now realise why a few of these were already missing.

The place is now starting to look tatty !!

I guess with very many apartments yet to be furnished this is going to happen a lot.  Delivery agents aren't going to be as careful as owners.  I would urge all owners to  supervise the deliveries if possible - to ensure your furniture is undamaged as well as the stair paint and light covers.

If I had some spare paint of the correct colour I would have been happy to cover up the problem.  It would only take me a few minutes.  I wonder if we could arrange for AEA to provide small touch up samples containers?

Also some internal paint would be useful as the walls had pencil marks in a few places.

If I were to ask AEA  would anyone else be interested. n.b. It's only a question of time before you have have the same experience.

Paul, if I recall correctly, this was raised at the AGM.  AEA and the President said that if any owners wanted paint for their apartments, then RyF would gladly let them have the colour code!!  I do know someone else in DV who was given a litre of paint when they asked, via the developer's office in the port (early in the year).  But it looks like RyF aren't giving the paint away now!

The communal stairways, etc., should be "snagged" when the development is handed over, according to AEA.

It might be too late now but you sometimes see pallets of the internal and external paint lying around........and the code will be on the side of the tubs. I will have a look when I am over next Friday.

Jan,

External snagging may be a year away - which is a long time to put up with chipped paint all down the stairway.

Also the builder might argue (rightly) that these problems are not theirs but "wear and tear" and thus refuse to patch.

It's much quicker and simpler for me to just touch up when I'm next there then the unlightly damage is resolved.

Otherwise it will drive me to despair, looking at it every time I use the stairs. (No, I don't use the lift unless with heavy luggage).

Good luck on the paint numbers.  I will also write to RyF. If it gets a resyult result, I'll post on the Wiki for future reference.

Its a good idea to get the number and the make of paint. The number should give you the exactly the same colour but with the make the same as well it should be an exact match. Paint does change colour in direct sunlight after 2 years or so.

Another way is to take a flake of paint stick it to a piece of white card with clear tape leaving some of it exposed as the tape is slightly coloured and take it to Colorman or Eurotex the paint shops in Sabinillas one is in the road opposite the taxis and the other nearly opposite the taxis. They should be able to match it - sometimes they have a book with the colours of communities !!

Paul, I agree that there is a possibility that the builders will blame "wear and tear" for the external chipping of paint.

Maybe we should take this up again with the developers and AEA - as just a few months after being handed over, the commuinal areas in a block being in such disrepair can't be blamed on wear and tear!  In our block, only two apartments have been furnished (that I'm aware of - and that includes us and the one next door, which was furnished while we were there in the summer) and I can assure you that the paint in the stairwell was already marked and chipped and it certainly wasn't us when we furnished our place!

Maybe these should be dealt with now, before the whole elevation of a block needs to be painted!  Then, for sure, I'll bet we end up paying for that out of the community fund rather than the developer dipping into its pockets!

Hi

I spoke to Maria in RyF a while ago regarding some touch-up paint and she has emailed me the telephone number for the company which supplied both the inside and outside paint.  The telephone number is 638006973 and the person to contact is Jaime.  The problem is that he speaks no English so I haven't been able to phone him!!!!!  If anybody else is able to do so, we are in Block 10 and I would gladly touch up the outside stairway as well as our balcony but I also need some of the cream inside colour.  Please let me know if anybody has some good Spanish and can tackle the telephone call.
