Hi, I Know it's still early as the resort hasn't had any completions at the moment or anywhere near but  we  have been looking at banking facilities in Spain.
We are looking for internet based banking which is easy to set up, be able to transfer funds from our British bank etc, etc
English speaking staff.
How do fees compare?
Any comments on Spanish banking?
Has anyone used one of the British banks based in Spain (Barclays, TSB ......)
Looked at Barclays but they were wanting you to keep minimum 1500 euros in the account. Bit steep I thought!
Any recommendations be it Spanish or English banks please.

Mike

Wondered if the General Discussion threads on this forum  could help you here. They have a wide range of discussion areas and loads of different experience.

As you know, we moved out here 5 weeks ago to La Torre.  Whe we bought on Condado, our agent was based in San Miguel de Salinas in South Costa Blanca.  He introduced me to Bancaja who we have an account with.  We have had our ups and downs with Bancaja but the most positive thing is that they do not require a minimum balance in your account and charge nothing for setting up the account.  The downside with them is that they have hundreds of branches in Alicante, Valencia etc but only 15 in the whole of Murcia.  This is a pain as with all Spanish banks, if you withdraw cash from an atm not your own bank, they charge you around 3.5% of the withdrawal.  Bancaja have a branch in Mazarro but if I were you I would make sure whoever you bank with has an mutiple branches (for cash wiothdrawals) and an International branch close by with English speakers.  Suffice to say, we are keeping our Bancaja account but looking to open another account with altenrate providers.

See you October break

Hi there, Im not sure if this is a true indicator for the future but the cashpoint on Mar Menor resort is a CAM bank one - they also do internet banking and have numerous branches. I suppose it may be them that puts further ATMs into the other resorts (but its a guess) - these guys may be the best ones to open a current account with to avoid charges.
