I have just had an email from my lawyer stating that wealth tax and Income tax is now due for 2006 on my property at CDS.

Could anyone advise me if this is correct, and do I need to use my lawyer for this as he obviously charges for this service?

Does anyone know how the income tax is calculated as in 2006  we did not have any rental income from our property?

My Lawyer has quoted 200 euros for his service plus 32 euros V.A.T plus 20 euros for sundries (forms etc) which totals 252 euros. He says that I owe 241.50 euros in wealth tax and 92.72 euros in income tax.  Does this compare with anyone else?

Based on the fact we completed on 15th December 2006 which forms the basis of the charges we have been charged the following.

1   Wealth Tax   148.90  euro

2  Income Tax     15.67

3  Fee for completing tax return   149.20 (inc vat)

Total to pay for entire service 313.77

Additional criteria that is applied to the wealth tax is also whether you have a Spanish mortgage, No mortgage or UK mortgage and the amount. Apparently if its not a Spanish Mortgage the wealth tax is considerably higher according to my lawyers.

What is also interesting is the different rates being charged for this service.

Does anyone have access to a complete breakdown on how the Wealth tax is calculated.

First posting so hope it works !!
We have owned in Mijas since 2001 and discovered that we can go direct to the Torremolinas Ministerio de Hacienda in the main shopping area by the Picasso Cultural centre to collect the form 214 ....."impuesto sobre el patrimonio y sobre la renta de no residentes "  which we are reliably informed is the wealth tax form for non- residents.  We assume there is a local office near Casares/ Manilva.  The form cost 1 euro last year and can be filled in fairly easily so long as you only have one property in Spain .
The completed form is taken to your bank for payment ,is stamped while you wait then they forward it , you keep a copy .
We were informed that the money you pay is a tax whether you rent your appartment or not and is an easy tax for the Spanish Tax collector to administer.  We have been informed that any wealth tax paid should be allowable against your final capital gain when the property is sold.

We hope this information helps but must obviously advise  that anyone using this system must satisfy themselves that they are happy to adopt it    OR    pay your lawyer to do it for you !!!

Murray.

Hi Murray,

I take it you have an apartment on the Casares del Sol development? I am visiting the site in December with a view to buying one from a local contact. Could you let me know where I can access photographs of the site, the official web-site is rubbish!

Best regards.

Has anyone discovered where the local tax office is yet to gain form 214 in order to pay tax? I will be over a  Xmas and thought I could sort out 2008 tax.

On a different point-does anyone know the name and details of the company that is going to be actually operating or running the Apart hotel?

Third issue is that I fancy going sea fishing but not aware of best place to join a boat-estepona or La Duquesa.  Anyone come across anything in area?

Thanks
