For those that do not know when to pay Spanish taxes on a new property that you have complited on please see below.
If you have purchased a new property the Town Hall might take some months even years to issue the receipts for payment as they are overloaded with work due to all the complexes built in the area, you might receive several receipts in arrears. Usually the Town Hall will send a notification to your Spanish address but it's not mandatory and they are not liable for mail mislay, it's your responsibility to pay the taxes on time.
The state taxes are the Wealth and Income Tax which is paid in arrears, which means during this year you have to pay the Wealth and Income Tax for year 2006.
If you have purchased that is to say signed deeds on your property this year (2007) you are due to pay the Wealth and Income Tax for 2007 next year before the 11th of June 2008.
If you purchased in 2006 you have to pay the taxes for 2006 between the 1st of January 2007 and the 31st of December 2007.
Hope this information has been useful to you as I have receivaed a number of emails on the subject. Regards Helen
